when someone is talking about a lag, what exactly does it mean?

i know it has something to do with waiting with the wrists on the downswing but i dont really know exactly

its the angle that decreases between your hands on the grip and the shaft during the downswing until the last moment when you release.

alright i gotcha, does anyone have any drills to help hold the lag as long as you can?

I read a nice little drill from Ryan Moore in a golf magazine (I forget which one). He calls it milking the cow.

At the range, when taking swings - go to the top of your swing and then swing/drop the club half way to your waist while maintaining the angle with your arms and shaft. Then go back up to the top again AND THEN swing normally. It kinda looks like you're milking something (a cow is probably the most PC).
