I have never really had a favorite golfer or golfer I was a fan of but, I have started to grow pretty fond of Paul Casey. I watched a couple interviews with him and he seems like a stand up guy. Any other fans out there? Who are your Favorites?

Lol, its like you read my mind, being a Briton Paul Casey has been one of my (if not my actual) favourite golfer for quite a while!! Seems like a genuinely nice chap, lovely swing, hits the ball a mile, great iron player, and very gracious, fully deserves his world number 3 status!!

Another favourite has to be Adam Scott, he might be struggling at the moment but he is really a class act and has a great swing!

John Daly is my favorite. I like Woody Austin as well. They seem like real people and I kind of relate to that aspect of their appeal. Not to mention a ton of natural talent. I have enjoyed watching Bubba Watson recently as well. And what about Boo? Who doesn't like Boo Weekly?

Fred Funk and Fuzzy Zoeller---they have fun playing golf and show it. Golfers who are too serious, swear on TV, and hurl their clubs are not my favorites. Golf should be entertaining to the fans, as Chi Chi, Lee Trevino, Jimmy Demaret, Doug Sanders, Payne Stewart, and Fred and Fuzzy understood.

John Daly and Boo Weekley were the first two I thought of also. And watching Bubba Watson hit it a mile is fun also.

The way Rocco Mediate handled the US Open interviews etc last year made me like him a lot also

Chris DiMarco...not big, not strong, not long. Just a never-say-die attitude. A real grinder...

Alvaro Quiros - funny guy, hits a 314 yard average and he's confident without being arrogant

Anthony Kim, i just find him really entertaining when playing and i like how he always goes for everything (even though it is annoying when ive backed him and he then makes double by attacking everything), soon his game will turn around and he'll be back up there challenging!

The late Payne Stewart was my fav for as long as I can remeber. I really like Freddy his on course demener is so great and relaxed, love that swing to. Tiger has to be a fav as well because he is so clutch.

A quote from Kris
...is that college bball really isn't "lower tier". The better teams have their rosters filled with guys who could play in the NBA. hell, guys used to come straight from high school to the NBA. I really don't think there's much of a difference skill-wise between the two.

Good choice. He was a great Champion, author, gentleman, and sportscaster. I still remember vividly when he was on the ABC team for golf tournaments. His comments were incisive, but never severely critical. His tournament is very special---the #1 fund raiser for years on the PGA Tour. You have to give a guy credit whose main goal in golf was to make enough money to buy a ranch, and then live there with his wife. That is exactly what he did, when he was still in his prime. And he retired from competitive golf. Nelson, Snead, and Hogan were all contemporaries (born in 1912), but their personalities were so very different.

Thanks for the quote. It makes my son and myself feel good that many people are like you and us, and still remember Payne. We all know of some athletes whose popularity fades after their death, which is to be expected. Payne is still popular with his fans, and it is great that the new golf course in Branson, Missouri is named for him. He was born in Springfield, MO, so he is a native son to that state. We would like to go to the Midwest sometime, and play at that course.

    • Would You Rather #69 For this question let's assume you are playing whatever tournament is important to you.  Would you rather finish second in your tournament but be remembered for a huge mistake you make right at the end.  or  Would you rather play solidly in your tournament, but you still finish outside the top 25, and are never really in contention.  Incidentally, this happed to a friend of mine many years ago at the tournament I play every year. He was leading the tournament coming into the last hole, where he took two to get out of a greenside bunker and then three-putted his way to second place. He hasn't really been in contention again since.
    • I hate that I agree with this. But the guy is like a Ferrari with four flat tires trying to go 200 mph. Bad things can only come from that. He turns 50 on December 30th. I wonder how long Golf Cart Tiger lasts out there.
    • When you’ve resorted to this type of stuff, hang ‘em up.
    • Happy April Fool's Day! 😅 Me after laughing for a bit about the joke:
    • Ex Cigarette smoker here. Quit 20 years ago and don't miss it. However I was looking at this from a Cigar perspective. Doesn't golf and cigars go together? I play with a lot of golfers who only smoke cigars on the course, and maybe one on the patio of the 19th hole. I mean after a rough day of golf what is better than a bourbon and a cigar?   I should also add the the second most smoking on NY courses is pot, but it is legal her. probably not during competition!
