...had to do something on Saturday that was very ugly and actually made me a little sick. I had to post a score of 100. Not 99, 100. The last 100 score dropped off the card in the last reporting period which was a milestone for me. Now I threw another one on!!! #$%$!!! Any suggestions on how to convince my wife that I need to play 20 rounds in the next month because of this horrible blight?!?! Anyway, I know it was just one of those days and I did hit the range yesterday and things looked and felt ok but it was quite a shock. Just when I thought I would never shoot 100 again.... Man this game is a real @$$-kicker!

There endith the rant.

Sorry for your plight.

One thing you should never do in golf is to say "never".

The good news is you're probably only going to improve :)

With an under 12 HC, I would have never saw that coming either! What was the problem? Too much beer? Not enough beer? Sand in the eye on every green blurring your vision?

Like everything else in this game it's mostly mental. I had been up at 5:00, went with the wife to pick up flowers, got home did a bunch of planting, mowed the lawn, and cleaned out the garage. Then I raced to the course and just get there 10 minutes before my tee-time and then sliced one straight out of bounds. Seemed like I was in a fog for several holes in which I shanked, snap hooked, and in general just went through the motions without visualizing the shot. I rarely drink during a round but after the 6th the beverage cart came by and had a bit of the Captain. After that I hit 5 straight greens and things settled down again. Again, it was my mental state that caused the bad score. Interesting foot note I took a half of a day on Wed from work and went back to the scene of the crime. Promptly shot an 83. Little better frame of mind this time!

It happens, man. I usually shoot low to mid 80's and I shot 95 in my High School Conference Tournament. We all have our good rounds and bad rounds. That's golf.

Thanks goodness for this site, at least we know we have plenty of company when it comes to out-of-whack rounds.

    • Day 1: 2026.01.03 Played 18 at Cape Kidnappers. Getting back into it after a few days off. Mixed results.
    • Day 40: short range session. Worked on my drill mostly. Finished with some full swings and driver swings. Range was packed because it was so nice out. Solid session though.
    • Day 5, 1/3/26.  Today was a weird day schedule-wise, but I did find 15 minutes to hit 6-iron shots (indoors, off a mat, into a net).  I also got to thinking about yesterday's round and, other than a few thin shots (that I think were weather/grip related), I didn't have any wild non-driver shots, which was weird for me.  I need to get back to video, which is tough in my setup. Also, this wouldn't count on its own, but anyone reading this and thinking about doing their own 5 minutes daily, check out Fit for Golf's latest podcast episode.  It's only a few minutes and Mike does a great job talking about the importance of doing a bit each day.  That also reminded me, I let my FFG subscription lapse, I'm going to renew it.
    • Day 32 (3 Jan 26) - Misty, rainy day - opted to rehearse swing in the mirror - focused on face position at P6 thru P9.
    • Day 460 - 2026-01-03 Set up GEARS Hybrid for a lesson, so used it in the morning for checking a few things from yesterday.
