I don't know your age, but be careful what you wish for! In my early 20's, I had to scratch and save for months to buy a new set of clubs... some kind of knockoff brand, Protactic, I believe. But, I had all the time in the world to play golf.
Now with a great career, I could go drop a couple grand on clubs and never miss it. The catch is, I'm married, have a kid, and a huge yard to take care of. Sometimes I think I'd rather have time than money.

I remember years ago thinking of how much better my game would be when I had enough money to buy new irons, driver, etc. So now I am on my third set of irons, etc. and the improvements by equipment, at least for me, has been marginal at best. Don't let the allure of all the shiny new equipment distract you from what is important, a good swing and confidence in your game. My dad plays with old Ping persimmons and Spalding irons, but he still plays under bogey golf because he is confident with them.

I'm 30, a college graduate, still working for a grocery store. I'm married, 2 kids and, as most people, have a mountain of bills. Hell, I graduated 3 years ago and still haven't paid a penny to my student loans :(

I'm happy I have useable clubs, but sometimes you wish you had more, ya know?

I should be happy with what I have instead of being bitter. At least my wife lets me go golf every once in awhile.

Trust me, I know of what you speak. I am not immune to the golf marketing juggernaut. They spend a ton of money making you believe that their goods will make you an accomplished golfer overnight. Hang in there.

Sometimes spending a ton of cash on a nice clean new set of clubs isn't the best route. you can find a real decent set of used name brand irons on Ebay or at a local golf club exchange place. I bought my brother a set of wilson irons on ebay for about 30 bucks. He plays far less then I do and never practices but hits them really well. There are tons of used sets of pings, callaways and other brands out there asking to hit again. lol I've always gone by the notion that its the indian not the arrows.

Yes, you should appreciate what you DO have, not despair over what you don't.

I'm 53, have had 2 heart attacks, and numerous surgeries. I can buy any clubs I want, but have come to realize it's not about that. I am happy to wake up on the green side of the grass each day, and still be able to get out on the course after work. Golf is only a game, when you are facing lifes serious problems, it gives you perspective. Be happy for your kids, your wife, your health, and theirs, and the little things we tend to take for granted. Be well, and be happy.

They're in near mint condition, i paid 20 for all 3 and i'm going to get 45. Not a bad turn around. yay for garage sales.

if i sell them today, i am buying a new glove tomorrow.

My entire bag is comprised of clubs from RockBottomGolf.com and PineMeadowGolf.com. PMG are knock-offs, but of extremely high quality. I would estimate my entire set is worth $400, with a $100 driver. I can also get you 15% off at PMG, shipping is free over $70.

You deal with what ya got, and thank God it's more than many others.
