I was talking with a co worker the day after I played 36 holes.. I was able to recount every hole, iron, drive, putt on the last 18 and almost everything on the 1st 18.. i forgot how many putts on a few holes and on a few shots what iron i used...

i remember the good shots.

so 2 or 3 a round.

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

yes i can remember most of my shots after the round. Sometimes i will think back and see how many gir i hit and how many fairways if i have not wrote them down.

They say golf is like life, but don't believe them. Golf is more complicated than that.

its clear i should take my newly discovered ability and take the time to write all the details down...

Yes, I can do this for my own round and each of my three playing partners, for up to about 3 days afterwards. I usually reflect on my round and each stroke at night after
I've played to think about what went right, and what went wrong. Some days have been so bad, that it's a lot like counting sheep! :)

Yes, pretty much for a day or two anyway. I am also currently keeping a spreadsheet with information about my round, such as fairways hit, GIR, etc. So that extends my memory somewhat. And lately I am writing down notes as to what went well and what did not and the applications I take away.

Not all, I have way too many shots in a round to remember them all I'm afraid...but I do remember the gist of most of the holes and how they went for me.

It's easier if it's a course you know really well. If it is a new course or one I don't play often then it's harder to recall it all.

If I am familiar with the course(s), I can remember the last 2 or 3 rounds within a week or two.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

I still remember rounds from highs school tournaments. There were, however, a lot fewer shots back then to remember. Before the day of range finders and GPS devices, the only way to figure out your way around hazards and the best way to set up shots was trial and error. Remembering all those rounds I played really gave me the home course advantage in matches and tournaments.

Yup, every gory detail. I am trying to keep a mental scrapbook of good shots though for future reference.

No not really. I barley even remember the details of my great rounds. My best ever round was a (-2 ) 69 about two years ago and the only thing i can remember about it is a shot that i missed...

Yeah, for 4-5 days or until 2-3 rounds.

A quote from Kris
...is that college bball really isn't "lower tier". The better teams have their rosters filled with guys who could play in the NBA. hell, guys used to come straight from high school to the NBA. I really don't think there's much of a difference skill-wise between the two.

Over the course of my life, I can recall only a handful of shots. Usually I've forgotten 90% of the day by the time I've gotten home. I have friends that remember my golf shots more than I do.

I just started playing again after having not touch a golf club in 20 years. My wife met a lady at work that just took up golf with her husband, so I meet them every Saturday to play a local par 3 while we get our game in shape.

I've got a memory that would make a goldfish laugh at me, so I write down every club I use on each hole and how it went.

This would help me a lot more if I could remember to bring the old scorecard with me the next time I played, but I never do. Do they make little golf notebooks for keeping track of this information, like the ones the pro's use on TV? Or are they just yardage books you buy at a certain course?

I can remember every shot for long time. I have a terrible memory too but I can go hole for hole. I keep stats and never write them down. I just go off of memory. It is so easy to remember but other things no idea.
