which 3-wood?

Hi,ive currently got a taylormade cgb max 3 wood but am having problems getting it off the floor!! can anyone recommend a decent 3-wood?? was thinking of a cleveland hi bore xls!

Ive heard Ping's G10 fairway woods are really easy to get airbone.

The only suggestion I have is to maybe look at getting a 4 or 5 wood. I really like my Callaway and it has a really nice look and feel. I hit it just as far as the 3 woods I have that I don't carry with me.

ive had good luck with all of those. none are really better than the other except i would say the Sonartec GS Tour is probably a little longer than the rest of them

I have found the Callaway Diablo 3 wood, either the neutral or draw versions (I've tried both), to be the easiest to hit off the ground. I have tried and owned several 3 woods and the Diablo is easy off a hard fairway or light rough. It found a place in my bag.

By far the easiest woods to get off the ground are the new Bobby Jones woods. I was hitting high rockets out of divots at a demo day. The hybrids hit the ball very high, great for low ball hitters or people looking for a very forgiving club. Jesse Ortiz also designed the original Orlimar Tri-Metal woods back in the day, and these look very similar. I would highly recommend the Bobby Jones 15 degree 3 wood or 17 degree 4 wood.

I have the TaylorMade Burner 3 wood and really like it. Don't know how similar it is to your cgb but it is low profile.

Borrow a friends 5W, isn't that the logical step if you aren't lifting the ball enough? I've never played a 3W from the deck, for exactly that reason. The 5W is plenty workable and I've never had a hole where it wasn't long enough for me.

3-wood I still play the r7 TP... but a friend of mine and my brother both play the PING G10... have you considered a 4-wood maybe?

I used to have the old Callaway Big Bertha 3W (yes, from years ago but it's still a great club). My Dad liked it so much, he kept it for himself. But I've always found that club and other Callaway 3Ws easy to get off the ground. (Note, I used it then cause I couldn't use a driver to save my life.)

For the moment, I've stopped using a 3W. I've opted instead to play a Taylormade Burner 5W which is pretty awesome. Easy to use and to get off the ground. I'm eyeing the Taylormade Burner 3W too... but I don't know if I really need it.

Another good deal at Rock Bottom Golf is the Adams BUL 3 Wood for $49.99. IIRC it was a Golf Digest Gold or Silver pick a couple of years ago. I like it because its easy to hit off the deck or teed up; of course I paid more that $50 for it.

I tried a lot of 3 woods and couldn't hit any of them until I found my Tour Edge Exotics cb2. It's sooo easy to hit with such a nice trajectory.

I know they aren't for everyone, but I recently bought a Titleist 909F3 3wood, and haven't and wont look back. I absolutely adore this club! I used (read 'tried to use') a Callaway Big Bertha 3wood, but I always had a tendancy to hit it very low, and eventually stopped using it all together because it just didnt give me a suitable second option off the tee on shorter par 4's. I went to the local driving range around 3 weeks ago, and my friend suggested the Titleist 909f, i used a demo club, 15degree, and i hit it perfectly straight with good trajectory 8/10 times, and similar amount off the deck, which i found very impressive, relatively cheap at $199. As i said though, titleist woods arent for everyone. hope this helps!

I tried out my

Burner 2009 3W (15˚) today and love it to bits. It's easy to get off the ground and distance-wise, it's decent. I managed to get about 220 yards with headwind. I'd recommend it :)
