PING Irons

I'm in the market for a new set of Irons. A friend of mine has a set of G5's he bought about 6 months ago and he let hit a bucket of balls with them last night at the range and I really really liked the way the clubs felt. They were very forgiving and I am strongly considering purchasing a set of these and having them fit to me.

My question is are there any other sets of irons that compare to the G5's and are worth checking out. My home course is having a Callaway demo day on Thursday so I plan to wear out whatever they have there.

My daughter plays G5s, plays them well and likes them.

I hadn't hit a PING for awhile and hit a couple balls with her irons one day. Frankly, I was a little miffed. The ball flew straight and far and true with the standard CS Lite R's with little effort. Liked the feel. Made me conflicted over my Titleists, which I love and which have shafts I really like, just because her clubs, which are 1/2 inch shorter than mine (but have stronger lofts) performed great. A guy I know, but haven't played with in a few years just got G5's at the end of last year and swears by them. I still don't like the "heavy" look, and even my daughter likes the Tour W wedges better than the G5 wedges for feel.

Moral --- once you get those new clubs, don't hit anyone else's, ever.

I picked up some G5 irons this year and I really like them so far. Nice and forgiving, easy to hit and they feel good too. I was playing some blades before (hand me downs...way above my skill level) and I'm glad I switched to these. I just got a 5-PW set but for $300 they were a heck of a deal and it allowed me to add some hybrids which I've really grown to love as well.

I play Ping ISI-K's in PRESTINE condition...if you want them i'll gladly sell them to you...relatively cheap too...the shafts are in perfect condition as are the grips...(not to make a sales pitch) I'd buy pings again in a heartbeat if they came down in price. Beautiful clubs, been playing with em since i was 7 and would love to get some new I5's or S58's

I know you are kidding, but I really didn't mean anything by mentioning her other than a frame of reference as to why I was hitting them. She's a very good player, and we went the PING route for fitting purposes.

I play i10's and I like them, not very forgiving though.

not to sidetrack/hijack but, what kind of shafts are in the i10's?...what's your actual handicap since that one in your sig is obv bogus

I would guess the g10's are close to the g5's. Ive hit some demo i10's on the range and i liked them alot. They frame the ball really well and are very easy to hit for a players iron.

i used t6 use ping g2s. After I started looking for a more player's iron and trying and demoing all sorts of clubs...i ended up with ping i10s.

I cant imagine myself using any other irons than pings.

Ping stiff shafts, my HC is hovering around 29 at the moment.

My irons (well and the Vokey) are the only clubs in my bag I never have any thoughts about replacing. I think for where I am in my game they're a good fit and when I do finally look to get a different set I will look at Ping first.

Well I just got back from the Demo day and I must've read the sign wrong. It was Callaway who put on the event so naturally there were only Callways clubs out there. I hit the FT's and the X22's.

The FT's were absolutely amazing. They felt great even when I didn't hit the ball as crisp as I can, they were longer than I expected (7-Iron carried 205), and they were overall very forgiving. I was extremely consistant from shot to shot and still had the slight left to right movement that I naturally play with.

Also, I've had two surgeries on the middle finger on my right hand to fix a broken finger, and with the clubs I have now, there is a wicked vibration when I don't hit the ball purely and it's extremely noticeable in my right hand. With the FT's the vibration was almost non existant.

I still want to hit some more clubs just to make sure the FT's are the ones I really want but after hitting those it's going to be difficult to find a better set for the price I think.

That's what the club pro and the Callaway guy both said. Usually 205 is a 6 Iron for me, and that's hitting it crisp. I probably hit 30 balls with that same club and only had 4 bad shots.

I played ping isi-k's also there great clubs...i had them fitted when i was 14yrs old i loved them...but as you get older you need better clubs to become better
