Well, I went golfing yet again today. I hit the ball the best I've ever done in my life. My irons felt great off the club, my drives were straight right onto the fairway. I tried the nxt tour for those who mentioned I should try it, and I loved it. The problem is, I'm still getting the same 100's score just like I have my entire life. The reason is, is that my short game and my chipping completely failed me today. I refuse to believe that it was the ball, as I'm guessing the nxt isn't as soft as the nike one. But, I hit the ball so clean, it was awesome. Example that summarizes my day- I hit a drive on a dogleg right, right down the middle, and I hit it too good. I end up in the front of the woods, still have a clear shot. I pitch the ball about 50yds out, short. Chip again, 3 putt. Not only was it my chipping and putting, but it was also my short irons' accuracy, I was constantly finding bunkers. I usually have an incredible short game, as it saves me from the inconsistency of my drives, and long iron messups, which always runs up my score. It just seems nothing goes my way in this game, and its either my short game is on, and my long game is off, or apparently today, vice versa. Any ideas or insight? Man, I hate this game.

Gotta practice, and don't let your mind get in the way! Take your practice swings, when your hittnig the grass how you want to step right up and hit the ball.

Guessing you were too excited by the high quality of your long game. This happens. Relax for a day, then do some chipping and putting. Next time you play and have a good long game going, you'll be more relaxed, and then you can use your good chipping and putting for a good round.

This happens to lots of people.

either go to a range and practice approach shots or go in your backyard with a bucket of balls. or a field...etc.

I pitch and chip in my back yard with a 60* and I have been able to save my game with that club.

    • I have been on a roll in November. Today was a 77 (69.2/115, 6,050 yards) on a wet course with dew covered bumpy greens. Better greens and I might have shaved a few more strokes off the score.
    • So, it appears to me that everyone is bringing out some version of the zero-torque, or square to square, or torque balanced, putter.  What ever name you want to give it seems like everyone has one of these types of things in their line up now.  It reminds me of about 10 years ago, when everyone had to have a counter-balanced putter in their line-up.  Callaway Media | Videos, Podcasts, & Episodes | Golf Content The Official source for Callaway golf clubs, golf balls and gear.
