I just played on the Donald Ross championship course at the french lick resort in Indiana and I have to say I am not very pleased.

it pains me to write this review because I had read so many good things about it and maybe it was just a bad day.

it was an interesting course that had some fun holes. however it was very poorly kept the grass on the fairways was dieing. there were more dirt paches than there was grass. the bunkers were kept well. The green were way too slow. I could get hardly any backspin on the ball. the fairways were very tight and close together numerous times I had someone on my fairway sometimes I was on some one elses fairway. there was one hole in particular when I was in a bunker and I was right under a tee and they were almost hitting directly over my head. For $167 for 2 people and a cart for 18 holes it is in no way worth it.

if you want to play some good courses in Indiana I suggest fuzzy's courses. Champions point and Covered bridge. they are better courses and much better. Of course there are others but those are the ones I have played.

1.Do you normally have back spin?

2.High handicappers tend to see ALL the course 3.I agree, to high Good luck with your next round, hope you enjoy it more.

I hope it was just a bad day. I have read a lot about this course and was looking forward to playing it.

1. Yes

2. I don't know what to say but some people would push over the small amount of rough there'd was and land in my fairway or be picking up or hitting a ball in my fairway. 3 not worth the money

It was probably a good course however they may have gone through allot of troubble lately with the summer and the economy. The grass has a buch of weeds in it and there was more dirt than grass in fact half the #17 hole was being replanted. Give them a while and the may get the course back in shape.

I think it just reopened this yr.
Or maybe it was only the Pete Dye GC that is new this yr ?

Hopefully some other members of the board can post some reviews after the course is fixed up a little better.
The pictures look great. Of course don't they always ? Don't think they are going to put bad pix up.

It was only pete dye that opened this year but it's over 300 a person plus a mandatory caddie tip and you have to buy a card from the resort just to get to the club house.

The wes Baden resort is great I am still there and at the pool as I write the. Like I said the donald Ross course should be great if the fix the fairways

Come to think of it tazz maybe the reason people ended up in oposie fairways so much was because of the bad shape the were in caused them to hit bad shots.

Is possible.

If I'm playing a course that roughed up, I will move my ball a club length from the bad spot so I can hit from clean lie.Just pick up and drop and let it fly afterwards

Playing the Pete Dye course or too expensive ? Or maybe you haven't

won enough at the casino :) ? I thought I seen the rates for the Dye course but can not find them now. I seen the mandatory forecaddy and the $30 charge for that. I was wondering if you could play the Dye course without a package ?

Yha I read this review before going. I think the problem now is that it's the beginning of summer and the economy is in the crapper and they are short handed. I think it would be a great course but I advise anyone who is intrested I suggest waiting till late summer or early fall before going there and give them a chance to get the fairways back in shape.

I am back home now and no I didn't win enough at the casino to play. Call them and you will find out just how expensive it is for yourself.

However I am going back tomarrow to go to the dave pelz school I will wright a review on it when I get back.

    • Day 206 (24 Nov 24)  - An easy session with the 54deg wedge and hard foam balls / one simple goal - distance control thru backswing length while not decelerating.  Had a playing partner comment they noticed me decelerating on a couple short wedge shots in last round.  Hit from distances from close to 40yds down to 20.
    • Musgrove Mill hole #15 was converted to a par 3 after Hurricane Helene. Today, I had 145 from the tee which is a perfect 9-iron for me. I aimed just right of the hole and pulled it a few feet. Clanked off the stick down into the hole and ricocheted out of the hole 13’ away. Drained the putt for a birdie after repairing the hole which was damaged . Not sure if it would have counted as a HIO, but I was pretty excited!
    • Day 55 - 2024-11-24 Did five levels of Operation 36 on GSPro (different courses). 🙂 Was -4 from 200 yards (32) intentionally laying up on each hole (i.e. not hitting a 5I or something). Shot… 22, 24, 26 from 25, 50, and 100 yards. I forget my 150-yard score, but obviously it was < 36. Putting was odd… (and I did it with the wedge or a 7I or whatever was in my hand).
