I love the claw (putting)

I recently started using the claw grip on my putter and I love it. When I first saw it on the tour I actually said "what the hell. I don't see how anyone could putt like that." Yesterday I started playing around with it just to see what it was like and I found out that I love it.

here is how you do it for the right hand player.

1. Put your left hand on the top of the club as you usually would gripping it with your thumb pointed down the front of the shaft.

2. then take your right index and ring finger and place then on the front of the grip pointing down the shaft.or you can wrap them around the shaft.

3. slip your right thumb behind the shaft and that's the grip.

This grip minimize the control your dominant hand has over the stroke. this awkward hand position also helps keep you from using your wrists in your stroke. I also like to completely lock out my right arm. this makes the club basically and extension of your right arm which will keep it on the same swing path as your right arm as apposed to both arms being bent.

once I got use to this the accuracy and distance control in creased dramatically. I love it.

It may not be right for everyone as we all have our varying opinions but I advise you to at least give it a chance it may help.

yha when you putt 90% of the mistakes come from your strong hand weather it be wrist breaking pushing pulling whatever. the claw helps prevent that from happening.

Yeah but that's also how a lot of great putters putt. From what I've read, Tiger uses mostly his right hand during the stroke and the left is there to guide.

I just moved to this method and am seeing a lot more control and good direction, and have not over hit any putts in two rounds.

Seems like a good method for me, how about other people?

      Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.

      As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
