Hi - question for the ST experts!
When hitting my irons - I just realized that when I straightened(or you could call it braced) my left side -which includes the leg - through impact - I hit the ball much better - farther and it made shanks disappear from my repertoire - thank god.
Is this a proper move?? I don't want to pick up a bad habit - but it feels good - to unwind with my lower body and straighten out the left side as the hands uncock and smack down on the ball . Must I need to keep the left knee flexed thru impact?? It seems, for me, to lead to really horrible and inconsistent iron shots. This was discovered by me today during my round where I shanked a few iron shots - I then tried this and it worked after watching the scratcher I was playing with- what do you all think? I checked out some swing vision on youtube and it seems to be what the pros do. It also seemed to allow my wrist to be flat through impact and hit down and through the ball - but again this a really hard game and sometimes temporary improvements can prove to be illfated bad habits - so please let me know what you think.
thanks in advance for the tips!

That move is right. That is what I recently found out I was doing wrong. I had been keeping so much flex that I was dipping down and moving to much laterally towards the target, which prevented my hips from turning through.

Yes. Too much lateral movement and not enough hip rotation will leave the club face open. So slices and probably shanks as well are common.
