Should I buy used golf balls?

In reality, how long is a ball new anyway, the first round of golf you play with it, it isn't new anymore, you might hit a cart path on the first hole you play it and scuff it or cut it. Im not good enough myself either to buy expensive new balls, I either buy used or cheap new ones, actually the walmart intech balls arent bad, they go pretty far and straight and you can get them for $10 for 24 balls, used balls in good shape rarely cost less than that and by the time you factor in shipping on ebay or any online store, they will be more expensive than that. They even have them in larger quantities sometimes, I bought 48 for $15 before, they were the overruns of the intech balls, its a mixed box but they were all new, found those ata local Kmart, they have even had older stock of new balls left over that were discounted greatly too, last year bought some top flite 3000's for $6 for 27 balls because they were old stock left over and they had some dunlop ddh distance balls this year for $4 for a 15 pack. But if you prefer the brand name balls then there are plenty of people on ebay and other places who sell them used for a fraction of the cost, most sellers are honest about the condition and have pics. Unless the balls have cuts or bad scuffs, they shouldnt play any different than new balls unless you're a very good golfer who would notice very slight changes and I dont fall into that category.

I have had mixed luck with buying AAAA mint balls on line. I bought 80 used mint AAAA ProV1 online and I would say that 75% of them are about new and the other 25% I have noticed a slight loss in distance and feel. Overall it was a good investment.

Anyone have any comparisons between the D2 feel and the Nike Mojo?

I find the Mojo to be pretty hard and not spin as much as I'd like. The D2 feel is one of the best 2 piece balls I have ever played and they are really cheap. They spin alot for a 2 piece and dont feel hard. And well, they also have alot of feel lol.

Truth-I even stopped buying Top Flite Gamers (which are also a great deal), because the D2 Feel feels about 98% as good at about 60% of the price. A lot softer than the Mojo.

I think buying used premium balls for everyday play is the best way to go. If you are going to buy top flites feels or gamers or another lesser callibur ball, buy them new. However I dont believe ANYBODY should buy brand new premium balls (titleist prov1, bridgestone B330's, etc) for everyday play. Too much money spent. I would consider myself a decent player however when not playing well can easily lose 4 balls in an 18 hole round. So I buy all used / refurbished prov1's and I have a couple of brand new sleeves of prov1x 's which I use only for league and tournament play.

by the nike mojo being hard are you implying that it gives more distance, which i assume a harder ball would provide. I would be willing to give up some spin(which im not very good at generating anyway except maybe on short pitch shots) to get more distance, just curious if thats what you meant.
