I like Vokeys but I'm sick and tired of my Spin Mill. One solid shot and the ball is just torn to shreds. All the clubmakers are building these wedges and they all cut the ball horribly. I was thinking of getting an X Forged Vintage 52* wedge and some other company's 58*. I don't want the MD grooves, don't want to peel the cover off a 4 dollar ball.

I think Erik, the editor of this website, mentioned that he would hit 50 balls in the trap to wear of the edges on his Vokeys. I'm thinking about getting the X Forged 60 because of the c grind, and I've never been able to spin my old wedges, and the X Tour 52.

The review for CG12 mentioned that it doesn't cut up the ball like some other wedges. It also doesn't spin the ball as much. I guess you can't have one and the other.

Yeah. The Vokeys always spun more out of the box than I wanted. The Mizuno MP-T10 wedges I just reviewed were purrrrfect.

Just ordered the X Forged 60 and the X Tour 52 online for a pretty deal. Wondering if I should take them to the bunker to soften the grooves a bit like you suggested for the Volkeys.

Also wondering how often you replace your wedges?

My dad has just informed me that he (surprisingly) ordered me a Callaway X-Tour Chrome Wedge, which he could get for free through his company (they have a 'perks plus points' system, which if he meets/exceeds his quota, the more points he gets. He went on there and saw he had a ton of points) so he got me the Callaway 56 degree wedge. I've felt it in the stores, felt nice, and had mentioned that my wedge (only a year old, but with me playing everyday and with as many range balls as I usually hit with it, I must strike the ball with it chipping, pitching, and full shot wise 100 times per day) was getting really worn...so he got me this club, should be here in a week or two, but never having used it, I'm not sure what it's like.

I always

really liked the looks of those. Never had them though, so I can't speak about their playability. But I do know that I love the Callaway wedges I play, an X-Forged 54* and X-Forged C Grind 58*

I stay away from that. I actually have a separate wedge that I use strictly for practice so that I don't wear the grooves on my newer one. I do rotate the new wedge in during practice rounds though, but just not to the point of over-use. I say keep your grooves in top shape for as long as you can. As time goes on they will lose their edge, but as a player, one adjusts to the difference. Unless, like iacas stated, they just spin too much.

Finally got a few rounds in with those wedges. The X Tour 52 has been fantastic for me at around 100 yards. Have been knocking them closer and even holed one for eagle yesterday.

The X Forged 60 feels great, but am not getting consistent spin. Sometimes it really checks up hard and sometimes not. The trajectory is also lower than what I'm used to. Either way, it really eats up my Pro V1s.

Not sure if it's due to the C Grind, but it also digs more in the bunker.
