The first cut is usually around 1-2" at my course,
second cut can range anywhere from 4-6", even higher in some spots.

You're lucky enough just finding your ball in the real deep stuff, let alone hacking out of it.

I put 4-5 inches, with most of it more around 4. It is not very thick in most areas. Most of the rough doesn't get the nightly watering like the fairways so unless it has rained a bunch, it thins out and is not very tough to hit out of.

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

The second cut, not the first cut, and not the super deep rough or tall grass.

There are two cuts of rough at my course..

Fairway = real low 1st cut of rough = 1-2" 2nd cut of rough = 4-6", higher in some spots

Bermuda rough doesn't grow very tall, but balls that reach it on the fly will sink right to the bottom of it.
