Bought one for 20 bucks yesterday at a driving range just to fool around. It has to be at least a 10 year old design, but its the best 3wood ive ever hit , lol! I was nukin this thing. Its as heavy as a lead pipe, but i really liked the feel of it. And it seems more easy to hit than my current 3wood. Im getting the club regripped and im taking out my more modern 906F4 in lieu of this beast. I was that impressed with it. Anyone else ever find joy in old equipment over their newer stuff?

My 3-wood is 10+ years also, probably closer to 15, can't really remember when I got it. I don't even try and find something to replace it. I hit it so well that it would take a monster club to get me to change. I just can't see myself hitting another club and being better with it than what I am now.

My driver is also 5-6 years old. I haven't found anything I can hit better so I keep using it.

I think sometimes manufacturers are more concerned about putting out a new product they don't realize when they have something great. Two years go by and they have to replace it because everyone else has something new. Can you imagine how many Ping Eye 2's would be sold if they still made them?

I will judge my rounds much more by the quality of my best shots than the acceptability of my worse ones.

Can you say "cash flow"?

Yeah. I really enjoyed hitting it yesterday. Im gonna take it out to the course this weekend and see how it goes with real golf balls instead of range balls.

I still carry my 975F 13.5*. It is by far the best 3 wood I have ever carried. I can absolutly crush that thing. I also love the classic look that it has. A side note to people who have played the 975f and newer woods, is there a large difference in technology? I have never even hit another 3 wood in the last 7 years. If I tried a new Taylor Made would I be hitting the ball 270 yards instead of 240?

Welcome to the titleist 975 fan club.

These are my dream woods. I really dislike larger headed drivers and woods, and whatever I've tried, nothing compares to my 975's.

I have:

975D in 8.5°, 9.5°, 10.5°
975F in 12.5°, 14.5°, 16.5°, 18.5°, 20.5°

I almost never have more than two in my bag at once, and I've never used above the 14.5° in anger....but I like that I have the full set, and the option should I need it. I put the full set together from ebay, for less than the price of a top end modern driver. I couldn't be happier with them.

In the bag:

Driver: 975D 10.5° True Temper EI-70 Stiff (Alternate 8.5° Titleist Stiff Graphite Shaft)
Fairway Woods: 975F (2 From) 14.5°, 18.5° True Temper EI-70 Stiff, 20.5° Titleist Stiff Graphite Shaft
3Iron-PW: S58 Dynamic Gold S300 ShaftsGap Wedge: Tour-W 54/10 Nickel...
