I am looking at a new set of irons and I do not particularly care for the lofts of them but I love their feel. For instance... the 5 iron is 25* and 1* of bounce. I would prefer a traditional 27* 5 iron with 2* of bounce.

How is this possible? If I weaken the loft from 25 to 27 wouldnt that lower the bounce from 1* to effectively -1*?

Actually I think you've got it backwards: you'd have 3 degrees bounce if you weaken the club 2°.

I wonder if you could not only bend the club to weaken the loft, but also close it a little bit (so that when you set it square, it'd be a bit weaker in loft). If one degree mattered that much, I suppose the typical route would be to weaken the loft two degrees, then grind one of the degrees of bounce off.

Or just weaken it one degree. Loft isn't the only measure of a club's distance or the ball's trajectory - the CG matters. So perhaps the clubs already launch the same as you'd expect now, or will with only one degree of adjustment, and then you'd have your preferred bounce.

Wouldn't it be the other way around, i.e. it would increase the bounce to 3 degrees?

Possibly.... I always get that backwards... but now that I look it at I think you and Eric are correct. Thanks

I bought a 6 iron to test them out and I like the feel of them but distance wise it is closer to a 5 iron than my mizuno 6 iron.
