Just curious. I work for a small capital management group here in Austin.

I used to work in the finance game – up until about a month ago. It was a relatively small hedge fund management group here in Denver. I managed a portion of the sub-prime auto portfolio.

One day the managing director, who also happens to be my father, held a meeting in which he indicated that there were going to be some lay-offs and some of us should start updating our resumes. To avoid a potential nepotistic nightmare – the old man placed me upon the chopping block first.

Now I collect unemployment insurance and play golf all day… every day. I’m all broken up about it.

Mortgage Broker here

Same here (though I'm not a broker, our company is set up a little different) although it was a lot busier for us earlier in the year. My first couple of months on the job I was doing 70+hr weeks. Now I'm down to about 50. Although I'm salaried I get paid overtime, otherwise I'd have gone insane!
