Broke down yesterday for my b-day and contacted 3-balls golf and got some new X22 Irons... 3 thru PW std all the way around. they will be here tomorrow and I can not wait to get my hands on them....

I went to a couple shops around here and hit a few different clubs and really liked these so hopefully I like them on the course.

By the way, I purchased the same set off of Ebay last week and when I get them called Callaway and the s/n on the 8 iron was for a Hawkeye driver. Lucky for me the person I bought them from was a stand up guy and refunded my money right away as he said he didn't know...

Congrats man :) Bought some Callaway X-22's on ebay myself, and I love them! I got 4-AW and an X-forged SW thrown in too sweeten the deal. You will love them too! Especially if you were like me and went from junk junior clubs, the difference is amazing! All I heard was equipment doesn't matter and its the Indian not the arrow, well let me just say that probably for the most part it is the Indian, but seriously the iron upgrade was great! You won't regret it!

I didn't call Callaway to confirm that they were legit, but I registered on their website and it took my serial number off the 8-iron alright. So does that confirm it or should I call them? Out of curiosity, how much did you pay? Did you get steel or graphite?

Don't forget, since you used your local shops for a test-drive but bought off the Internet, send a little dough on something at your local shop anyway. Maybe some new shoes or balls.

I'm not trying to be all "high and mighty" - I buy off of rockbottomgolf all the time. But I do spend money locally as well. We wouldn't want our local shops to go away completely.

Maybe go get them fitted?

I'm considering doing this to my X-22's, but I'm not sure. I'm taking lessons now and I kind of want to wait until i've grooved a real consistent swing before I go get them fitted.

Why? A fitting shouldn't have anything to do with how you swing the club. It has to do with your size and length of appendages, etc.

you hand size and arm length won't change before you get a consistent swing. All you're doing is preventing yourself from getting a consistent swing by having clubs that don't fit you. Think about what you said for a minute and why it makes no sense.

Oh, I meant about getting the lie and loft fitted to my swing. That's what I meant by fitting. Oops!

And also I believe they have dynamic fittings which do require you to swing the club.

What if he squats or stands too tall when swinging? So he should get fitted just like that? I think its fine that some get lessons and gets a good swing before getting fitted. While at the lessons the pro will likely know if the club will need to be better fitted for him. I've still yet to have gotten fit but mostly due to the fact that I think I am fairly close to standard.

Really want the X-22 Tours but don't know if I want to drop that much on irons.

People can do whatever they want. But really, if he's squatting too much or doing w/e, getting the clubs fit for that bad style isn't recommended I don't think.

I think a lot of the static measurements are pretty consistent. Grip size, club length. Yeah, things like offset and lie angle might change but even then a static measurement can tell you if you're upright or flat if you're doing things right. But grats on the new clubs! They're nice!

Did you get steel or graphite? With steel they are only $499 at Sports Authority here in Denver, and no shipping charge.

Checked out the SA website and they were listed at $699.00 too...
They were delivered yesterday and they are almost too pretty to hit...
I must say 3balls.com will definitely have my business again. These things don't look like they were ever touched they just had one bag open like someone took the club out, looked at it and then his wife made him return them or something.

    • It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…
    • I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
