I was given a box of these balls a few weeks ago and I really have to say that i'm greatly dissapointed in these balls. These balls seem to have less distance on them and less control. In comparison to other balls i've hit (Titleist NXT Tour, Bridgestonr e5 or e6, TaylorMade TP or Burner), they rate on the bad end. I've actually come to enjoy hitting the NXT Tour and e6 golf balls more than other right now which is pretty surprising to me.

Anyone else have a bad expereince with these specific balls or another ball you thought was supposed to be good?

It's a softer ball. It's going to be shorter than a firmer ball if your launch conditions don't require more backspin to keep the ball in the air.

These balls seem to have less distance on them and less control.

They have a urethane cover so they're going to be shorter and will spin a lot more. If you have trouble controlling a slice or a hook the extra spin will make it even worse. Its within 100 yards of the hole that the extra spin will help you out.

What's your swing speed? I realize that it's not the only factor in determining what ball to play, but the RX isn't for everyone. Maybe try the Tour-B330 or the Tour-B330S. They're meant for different swing speeds and I'd assume if you're using the wrong ball for your SS, you'd be missing out.

actually ur wrong - this specific ball has the least amount of driver spin, than the whole Tour B330 series, so it should help control your slice/hook BUT will have MORE spin around the greeens

I bought and played a sleeve of them this spring and had similar thoughts. For the most part I have been playing the e6+ and TP Red this summer and like them much more then the RX.

Yeah, i was dissapointed in the ball, too. I thought it be a slight upgrade for my swing from the prov1. But there isnt much response in B330rx at all. If you have a consistant swing speed of more than 100, they're going to feel like youre hitting one of those foam practice balls. Plus, the '09 prov1 is more durable, believe it or not.

To answer one of the first questions, my clubhead swing was monitored at 104mph (computer capture). I just dont find them have the pop that i'm used to. When given to me, I was told they'll carry farther than any of the balls i mentioned in my initial post, but i'm really finding that it's the complete opposite.

I don't see how I'm wrong. The RX has less spin than the other B330 series balls, but he wasn't comparing it them.

He said he likes the NXT Tour and e6 which both have surlyn covers, so I'm pretty sure they spin a bit less than the RX.

Your swing speed is too fast for this ball. It is geared towards those with slower swing speeds.

I do agree with this answer, but the whole idea of this ball was to give the softness of higher end balls with better length, Pro V for slower swing speeds. I think the E-5 and E-7 are better answers. E-5 spins well in the short game but baloons a little for me, especially on the driver. The E-7 doesn't spin as much, but has low compression so feels fairly soft even with a firmer cover. I had hoped to the 330rx would be a better compromise. A little longer than the E-5 but with a little more spin than the E-7. I thought it was actually shorter and the spin increase wasn't significant. Adjusting to the small difference in spin between the 330 and E-7 was not difficult. I used to back up the E-5 or Pro Vs by accident, not a good thing. Less spin gives me more consistent results.

I like them just fine. I'm halfway through my first dozen now. Picked up two dozen last month.

I think the B330-S is your ball, though, with your 104 mph swing speed.

They are pricey, though....ouch.

I will stick to buying the ProV1 practice balls for $29 / doz when I can find them.

i had to come back to this thread after gaming these balls
SUPER impressed w them

longer than the Nike ONE Platinum, softer feeling off the shorter irons and putter face
def. a good ball for the price, and i think underrated

and durable....i used one ball for 36 holes and it was still in ok shape
i would use it for another 9 for sure

more durable than the Nike and Pro-V IMO

I tried out the B330-RX this week, and liked it just fine. The only thing I don't like about it is the price (although Golfsmith and Dick's Sporting Goods have both been selling the ball for $32/dozen recently); some of the low-end three-piece balls are similar enough in performance to be a much better value.
