New to this site but I wanted to say that I've had 2 double eagles and no hole-in-ones.

One was on the par 5 4th hole at The Bridges GC in San Ramon with a 2 iron from 235ish. We were playing skins with our 4some and it was during our junior college golf team qualifying so it was somewhat intense. I holed out my 2nd shot and then my buddy put his 2nd shot to 6 inches. He lost the hole and 3 skins with an eagle. That one always makes me chuckle.

The other double eagle was during a college tournament on the shortish par 5 6th at the Metropolitan GC in Oakland with a 7 iron for my second shot from like 190 (it was down wind). The hole was tucked behind a mound and the shot landed behind the mound but looked pretty online with the flag from my veiw point. When I got up to the green I saw my divot 15 ft short of the hole but no ball. I thought I landed on the downslope and kicked over the green into the trees behind it. I glanced at the hole as I walked by the cup towards the trees and my ball was sitting in there. I went nuts! Although it only took me back to even par on the day after a double and a bogey earlier lol.

hmmmmm.
Very few people have gotten a albatross.
But at the same time the Hole In 1 has a huge wow factor.

I'd pick the albatross because then I wouldn't get stuck with a huge bar bill a the end!

Double Eagle, no contest. It requires two great shots versus the one.

That said, I'd rather have a hole-in-one on a par 4 - thus getting the hole-in-one and the double eagle.

Hmm albatross. I'd take it. But I'd rather get a hole in one on a par 5 ;)

I would take the double eagle - they are more rare. Cabrera only needed a wedge on a 2nd shot into a par 5 at the grand slam of golf didn't he? or was that his 3rd?

depends who im talking to

the hole in one has the lay wow factor ... if I tell anyone i meet I have a hole-in-one it automatically means something.

Where as, the albatross doesn't mean as much to people who dont play golf and understand the difficulty.

I'd rather have an albatross, but the hole in one would be easier to explain to people

Yup, I've told some friends that are new to golf about the 2 double eagles and no hole-in-ones and they don't really get it. They say wow you've never had a hole-in-one? Never, wow you've made a 2 on a par 5 twice?! Sigh, sometimes you just can't do anything about it.

If I had to choose only one, and believe me I want both, I would take the hole in one. Much easier to describe a hole in one to someone who may not know much about golf than a 3 under on a par 5.

That said, has there ever been an ace on a short par 5, maybe including some cart path bouncing, a sprinkler head or two, etc? Or what about a 4 under on a par 6 including some of the same circumstances?

I was just reading about Mike Crean's ace on a 517 yard par 5. Wow! A Condor really does exist.

only 3 times. It's called a condor. And it was only done once on a straight drive.(517yards) One guy got one with a 3 iron! it was a horse-shoe par 5.

I want a hole in one on a par 4 for a double eagle.

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee

Since I've had 2 double eagles and no ace's.... I'll take an ace please. I've come so close many times, but never had one drop.
