Hi guys its been pointed out to me that while setting up my legs and club are parallel to target but my shoulders are lining up too the right!! would this cause my fade and slice i occasionally get?? i feel when i try to correct it i end up with a out to in swing!! can anyone help please??

Not sure I follow. If your shoulders are lined up right of the taget, it should promote a draw.

If shoulders are closed to the target line and this causes you to take the club inside to quickly on the backswing you have to lift and loop the club to bring it back through on an inside path. Why not try setting up with your shoulders sightly, emphasis on slightly open. Just make sure your front shoulder is turning under on the back swing and see what happens.

i suffered from a similar problem, except my hips/shoulders were open (left) to the target rather than to the right. i'll tell you what i was doing and how i corrected it, and maybe you can try the reverse of it to correct your problem...

when i was setting up to the ball, i would set the club down, then set my right foot, then set my left foot. now, when i was setting my right foot, what i didn't realize was that a) i was standing too far away from the ball and so consequently b) i was essentially taking a full step forward with that foot to get it parallel to the target line, instead of just planting it where i was. by making that step forward with my right foot, it opened up my hips to the left of the target. i then (unconsciously) kind of set myself, my weight, whatever, as if i were square to target. in other words, i thought to myself "okay, you're square to target, don't move your body off this line." then moved my left foot forward so that it was parallel with my right foot. now, with my body already set (aiming left), moving that left foot forward didn't bring my hips back around to parallel - instead i just kept right on aiming left and adopted what amounted to a very closed stance. so if you were standing directly behind me, it would indeed appear that my feet and the club were aligned to target, but my hips and shoulders and even my knees were all aiming to the left.

the hard part was figuring out what i was doing wrong. the easy part was correcting it. now when i set up to the ball, first off, i stand a bit closer, so that i don't make that first huge step with my right foot. instead, i just plant it where it is after i set the club down behind the ball. since you have the opposite problem, maybe you're setting up with your right foot too far back, which is aligning your hips to the right of the target? or maybe you're starting out with your left foot too far forward? whatever it is, the problem very likely lies in your setup method. if this doesn't help solve it, i'm sure a local pro could easily spot your problem and help you out.

I have a huge tendency to align everything to the right. What this caused for me was pull-hooks and a little over the top move at the top. I think a big thing that helps is to forget about the target until you've set your body in the right place. Do this with artifacts from the ground that you capture when behind the ball lining up your shot. You have to make sure that you've got a couple of points right:

1. Make sure you have enough tilt away from the target to accommodate a lower trailing hand so that you don't inadvertently change your shoulder alignment when you grab the club. 2. Make sure you don't turn your shoulders when you look at the target after addressing the ball. The tendency is to open the shoulders. Make sure you turn your head only. Getting a second pair of eyes is good too. Make sure they are looking at the backs of your heels or through your hips if you are standing open. If your feet are open, your hips should be a little less open and your shoulders should be roughly square to ever so slightly open.

    • Day 121: did a bit of mirror work with my driver. Working on shortening the backswing.
    • Day 305 - Grip and backswing work. Full swings were bothering the hip a bit. 
    • Day 56 - 2024-11-15 Light day. Lots of catch-up work. Checked the grip to make sure I wasn't compensating there, and did a little backswing work.
    • Day 197 (15 Nov 24) - Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management.  Solid round of 83 (41/42) - 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.  
    • Have been on a mid to low 80’s roll of late - today was no different with an 83 (41 front / 42 back).   Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management, delivering 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.  Local course starting to get that winter feel - wet areas wetter, thin grass thinner, greens  trickier.
