anybody play the ping g5 driver? or has anybody tried it?

also, i'm currently using titleist 690cb irons. i was looking back at titleist.com a few minutes ago and i noticed the set included a 2 iron which of course i cant hit, but am still curious about. i think i bought the clubs in vegas on a family trip and i was wondering if some places just sell sets only 3-pw instead of 2-pw?

I demoed the Ping G5...I did like it but I preferred the X460 and especially the FT3 from Callaway (and they are offering free clubs w/ a driver purchase, so easy decision for me).

I use the Ping G5 - but have only used it for 2 rounds.

So far I find it excellent, certainly carries the ball further than my R7 Quad, not a huge distance gain and surprisingly I have to tee the ball lower than with the R7.

Overall I really like it - still getting used to the 460cc head, seems so much bigger than the 400cc in the R7.

I also tried the X460, R7 425, R 460 but liked the G5 more than either of them.

Some people over here really rate the X460 with the Aldila NV S65 shaft, personally that shaft launches too low for me though.

Irons - Tour Stage Z101 Forged Irons DG S300 Shatfs (2-PW) Wedges - 52* Callaway X Tour Vintage, 58* Callaway X Tour Mack Daddy VintagePutter - Scotty...

Yes, most places only sell 3-PW as the 2-iron isn't a part of a typical set these days. Most people favor a hybrid or 5-wood.

Or both

i've actually seen someone play with 3,5,7 woods and a hybrid and only 6-pw in the bag.

I have played the G2 and G5 both, and of them i find that they do not add much to your game so much as help an inconsistant ball striker hain a little more confidence...the head of the club is awkward at setup to me, but i guess thats just all on prefrence...overall its a nice club but im more of a fan of callaway or TaylorMade...

as for the irons, check out www.edwinwattsgolf.com or www.golfgalaxy.com

they both have a great selection and good prices! (im not a sales rep hahaha)
