I hit a R9 demo driver at my local pro shop a week ago. It was set for a draw (seeing how I tend to have a fade often), and I really liked it. I would need to hit this some more before I ever made a choice on buying one, but I noticed that there are 4 versions of the R9. R9, R9 TP, R9 - 460, and the R9 460 TP. I see some of the differences in these (different weighting options, shaft options, head size and price), and it looks like the options for setting up one of these is vast.
What are your experiences with this driver (s)? Has anyone hit all of them? Any other differences between these other than what I mentioned?

The R9 has a 420cc head with the weight system and upgraded shaft. You get 75 yards of adjustment with the combination of the weights and shaft adjustment

The R9 460 has the 460cc head without the weight system. So you only get 40 yds of adjustment.

The TP versions had different shafting, hope that helps.

Thats about right, I just upgraded to an R9 tp by putting a tp shaft in it.
As the man said, the 460 doesn't have the weights in it so therefore its a bit cheaper, however, changing the shaft position does make a big difference.
The tp shafts do have a specific "tp" position that the other shafts don't hvae but thats it!

I tried the TP shafted version of my driver. It lowered the ball flight for a more penetrating flight with more roll out at the end. My carry % is higher with the normal shaft that I went with. My swing speed isn't that high, either, around 102mph or so.

Good luck. It's been a fun stick. I currently have mine set to get more of a lower fade flight.

I love my r9, it really performs. When im bored at the range, i mess with the settings to see how the shots really differ. I definately recommend getting the 420cc. If you have a higher traj and fast swing speed get TP.

I have an r9 460. Changing the shaft position really ONLY INCREASES OR DECREASES THE LOFT ON THE FACE. Shaping the shot for a draw or fade bias is VERY MINIMAL. If you really want to promote more yardage for hitting draws or fades, you have to go with the regular r9 420 head with the movable weights. I hope this makes sense. Also, given a normal swing plane and neutral face at impact, YOU WILL NOT HIT THE BALL UP TO 75 YARDS LEFT OR RIGHT. I don't care what they say. You might get 40 at the most...Again, if you want to minimize your slice or hook, don't get the 460 head with no weights. You will want the interchangeable weights. Hope this helps! (I've had numerous conversations with professionals about the r9 drivers, and anyone who knows what they are talking about will say the same)

    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
    • Day 128 12-18 Worked on rotation and getting to lead side. Still working on the flow feeling while doing that. Recorded swings.
    • IMO-the only thing entertaining was the relay race. Everything else was excruciatingly boring...or just  stupid, like the 14-club thing. Watching guys blade wedges into the water over and over is not at all interesting.
