Lately I've been hitting all my 56* wedge shots 15 yards low and to the right, worse if I try to swing harder. Every one of my other clubs has improved but this is killing my game. If anybody has a drill that would help I'd love to hear it. Thanks.

all wedge shots should be more of an arm swing. Let the weight of the club and gravity do its thing.

Also dont forget to turn your hips through the shot. The shorter clubs make it more difficult to get your hips through so sometimes people rock back and forth on wedges instead of turning their hips through the shot.

I've been working on my wedges a lot for the past month, they used to be the worst clubs in my bag, but are now one of my best.

Dvalley23 is correct on the hips, however, I've found it much easier just to open my stance than to try to turn my hips unnaturally on a 1/2 swing. Another thing I was doing was blocking the shot out, and not following through on softer swings, which will send the ball right every time.

Wedge shots will go right and low if you leave the face open to much and
don't move your hips. Square your club and remember it is the leading edge which tells if you are square...not the top line. Good luck

make sure the ball position is in the back of your stance close to the rear foot, have your hands in front of the club with a slight forward press and practice with your wedge, its your scoring club.

I am going to respectfully disagree with this. You are pitching not chipping and generally you do not want your wedge ball position close to your right foot. Middle of your stance should be just fine, hands set a little ahead of the ball and don't just pick it up on your backswing, you may be picking it up and whipping it back too far low/inside and coming in with the clubface way open, should be a little more upright backswing, but still a good takeaway.

This is all hard for anyone here to say because we can't see you hitting the ball. You will create more problems than you will solve with your wedge if you move it way back in your stance for normal shots.

Thanks for the feedback, a little more arms and a full hip turn has worked wonders!

I try to keep my head as still as possible and try not to rotate my hips too quickly on my down swing. If your hands lag behind your hips (and it will be worse if you swing harder as you say you've tried) then shots will go low right.

My short game has been probably the best part of my game as of lately? I did have some help with my short game from a very good player, and he had me practice by taking my wedges about belt high, and work from there, and to finish. I seemed to stop the club after i hit the ball, and worked on hitting and contuine through the ball, if that makes sence. All i know is that it has helped me alot. I find when iam having problems with a certain club, I go ask for help, and seem to find some willing to help, and work with that club, for several hours, Thats what i love about this game, alot of folks wanting to help, or offer a suggestion.

    • I think you're saying it's preposterous to think that the areas on this club are anything like what's shown here: 30mm toward the toe or heel loses only 5% distance? Highly, highly doubtful. So a guy who hits the ball there and normally hits the ball about 250… will hit it instead about 238. By missing the sweet spot by about 1.2 inches? Highly, highly doubtful. Heck, the high heel barely gets into the red, and orange is only "up to" 10%! @M2R, I've never heard of "Ask Golf Nut" but I'm dubious of his claims in the video and really, really dubious of what's on his site: "Why AskGolfNut Is the Most Trusted Data-Driven Golf Resource". Hmmmmmm.
