so Ive really lost control over my driver and fairway woods lately and I think its because ive been practicing mainly with my irons which have improved a ton,but now when i take the driver out its a mess. Im not sure what im doing wrong but its a strong hook to the left that goes about 150-175 yards...im using the R7 limited and ive tried changing the weights around but it doesnt help and i can see the ball marks on the center of the face...im really confused because before i started working on my iron game i could hit the driver just fine.

Whats in the Monaco SL cart bag
Driver: R7 limited 9.5
Woods: R7 3 st & 5 st
Irons: MP-67 4-pw

you are probably getting too short with your backswing due to your iron play and muscle memory. really focus on getting a longer extension in your backswing(still stay on parallel at the top). a great drill for this is to take your practice swings with your driver about 1-2ft about the ground, it will reinforce the need for extension with your longer clubs.

In my Diablo Edge Tour/ Titliest Stand Bag:

Wedges: 46* Vokey SM4, 54* Vokey SM4, 60* TMade ATV

Putter: Scotty Cameron Newport 2 Belly 43"

One thing to concentrate on (helps me at least) that differentiates my driver and iron swings is the very beginning of the takeaway. With the driver try to drag the club aross the grass behind the ball for at least the first 6" of the takeaway or more. In my experience, it's easy when you've engrained an iron swing into your muscle memory to start getting to steep on the takeaway with the driver because that's how you start back with your irons. Feeling/listening to the grass brushing on the driver at th start encourages a sweeping motion through the zone on the way back down I think. You say you you're contact is clean so this may not be your problem, but it's one thing to check off the list, and it's related to a fundamental difference between wood/iron swings.

Note.... I play the same driver, and the sole of it it has rigid, pyramidal channels cut into it, the "tips" of which point toward the face of the club (I expect for aerodynamics and aesthetics). These channels tend to resist the dragging motion I'm describing and grab the grass as you drag the club backwards. That f-ed me up for a minute because I used to play an old r580 that had a much smoother sole profile. But feeling the grab means that I'm doing what I want so I embraced them after a few swings. But beware.

The bag:

Good luck, hope you fix it. If you do, just don't start swinging your irons like a driver!

I was having a problem with my woods recently and found out that I had started rolling my wrists over immediately on the takeaway instead of hinging my wrists. This was causing me to come back way too flat which promotes an over the top move. Anyway, make sure you aren't doing the same thing I was as this causes the woods to be very inconsistent

    • Day 121: did a bit of mirror work with my driver. Working on shortening the backswing.
    • Day 305 - Grip and backswing work. Full swings were bothering the hip a bit.
    • Day 56 - 2024-11-15 Light day. Lots of catch-up work. Checked the grip to make sure I wasn't compensating there, and did a little backswing work.
    • Day 197 (15 Nov 24) - Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management.  Solid round of 83 (41/42) - 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.
    • Have been on a mid to low 80’s roll of late - today was no different with an 83 (41 front / 42 back).   Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management, delivering 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.  Local course starting to get that winter feel - wet areas wetter, thin grass thinner, greens  trickier.
