Thinking about spending a few days at Wild Dunes with friends but had not even heard of the place until someone mentioned it as a possible golf destination. Looks ofk in their website
Has anyone stayed or played there?

When I was in high school in NC, we played in a 3-day tourney down there over our Spring Break junior year (2002, wow...)

I don't remember every hole, but my overall impression of the course(s) was very high! Honestly, the quality of golf down in SC (espec. Myrtle Beach and HH) is so good you're almost guaranteed to enjoy the experience. I do remember the 1st hole of one course in particular, probably due to my terrible tee shot in front of 50+ people and subsequent triple bogey.... but the course was very nice, challenging, and fun to play.

I really don't remember much about the "stay" itself, so sorry I'm no help there.

I stayed just down the street on the island 2 years ago, really cool spot. My cousins go back every year and love it. I'm guessing you will be in good hands. The beaches around there are outstanding.

I used to live in Charleston. I love Charleston National, and I also used to play a lot at Patriot's Point. Back when I lived there, Patriot's Point was kind of ratty. I've heard they totally revamped the course and it is likely very nice now. I've also played and enjoyed Dunes West.

      Day 51 (yesterday was 50, not 59 -- that was a typo).  I didn't have a ton of time today.  I hit a dozen balls with a 6-iron in my practice room.   Amazingly, after this I did the ShotScope analysis of yesterday's round;  my approach play was at the 5 hcp level.  That's pretty darn good, but unfortunately for my score, some of that came from hitting a few good recovery shots.  But I also hit some really good approach shots that weren't from trouble!

      Shot a 37 today! Palmer Course, PGA National. Really fun. 6/9 GIR, no lost balls. The double and the bogey were both three putts from like 35 feet or so.  The birdie at the last was really fun. I stood over that fifteen footer and thought wow I’m really about to make this, aren’t I? And I hearted it. Really fun. It’s like 9000 degrees outside but I battled through it well. Good times.

      I had been in a bit of a slump for the month of June. Handicap index has slowly risen, and there were few sub-80 scores. Today was a different story at Leslie Park GC. Lots of solid shots, GIR's, up & downs, for a 77 (7.8 differential). As with most rounds, there were a few loose shots and crappy putts, but it was a good day.
