Bounce is the angle that is made by the metal built-up on the sole of the club and the front edge of the club. The more bounce the less the club will tend to dig in soft, wet or thick conditions.

Sand wedges typically come in bounce ranges from 10-14, which is more than gap or lob wedges because the idea is you're going to use th SW primarily in sand, which is normally a soft condition. The fluffier the sand is, the more bounce your sand wedge should have, the harder, more packed sand, the less bounce you want your SW to have. 11 degrees of bounce should be good in most conditions, unless the course you play has really fluffy sand, really deep grass around the greens, or really damp conditions.

Bounce determines the Wedges ability to slide through the sand in a bunker.

So the bounce you use really will depend upon the type of bunker conditions your regulare course has. Fluffy sand and hard sand will cause the wedge to react differently.

Great explanation. For the 60*, I'd go with the least bounce I could find.

Depends on what ur swing tends to do on wedge shots frm around 60 to 80 yards cuz thats the distance the mid handicapped golfer gets from the lob wedge. if u tend to dig or come down too steep omn the ball u shoud get higher bounce and if u hit flat at the ball , low bounce shud do it for u... if u still fell undecisive close your eyes go for the 6 deg bounce and pray to God it works.. =)

I bought a Vokey at GolfSmith a couple of months ago & they didn't have a choice of different bounces. The other lofts did come with a choice, but of the tons of 60* Vokeys that I looked through at GolfSmith, they only had one bounce choice.

I don't remember what that bounce number is off the top of my head, I can look in my bag when I go out to my car next if someone cares to know.

This isn't to say there aren't other lofts available. I'm just letting you know what happened to me.

What does this do my vokey is a 56 degree with 11 bounce.

It means that on a solid shot, the ball will bounce 11 times.

and it means that if you throw it, it will bounce 11 times. also, it means that if you've used the word "bounce" to mean "let's go" more than 11 times in your life than you're a fool; at least you'd have Mr.T's pity.

Check out this Vokey wedge site. It will explain about bounce, and also the different sole grinds available.

You should take into account both "normal" sand conditions and your own swing attack angle - steep, medium or shallow.

oh yea

You have firm bunkers (mentioned earlier), which call for low bounce.

As a "slider," I look for as little bounce as I can find. 04 seems to be that number. Also to bear in mind -- are you in need of a club to hit from tight lies in close? I use my 56 for fluffy lies and wet ground, fluffy sand. The 60 for tighter lies, dry ground and firm sand. The 60 can easily fly 60-65 yards, the 56 degree seems to top out at 75-80 yards. Personally, I'd still like to have more metal ground off my Cleveland 60/04 DSG, as it has a lot more metal underneath than the cheapo lob wedge that I lost two months ago, that worked so well from 5-50 yards. (Maybe that one was not truly a 60 after all?)

if your good shots dont have divots get a 60.04 because it will help you take divots and make better contact. also if the course you play at is wet or soft you want more bounce. like i take massive divots like some are over a foot long on my shots where i want alot of backspin but i play a 60.04 because it feels better when i hit. for very wet conditions you want high bounce and for dry conditions you want low bounce
