Pleased to see some fishermen on here. We have this strange situation in England where fly fishermen love looking down on golfers; they really go out of their way to sneer at the game wherever possible.

This may be a class thing: maybe the fly guys would love to have that 'middle class sportsman' niche all to themselves and they hate the fact there are golfers in the way.

Odd thing is, I've never heard golfers mocking fly fishermen. I've got a foot in both camps and I find the whole thing quite bizarre. Is it like this anywhere else?

I like to fish and hunt. Photography is what I like best, even more than golf! (Is that even allowed?)

Im a part time porn star... just not on video.

Outside of golf and work, I am a musician. Up until recently I played in 2 different bands. I've been playing music since about age 7 including guitar, drums and bass. I play all different types from country to blues to metal. It's fun stuff in the off season.

I live in a part of the world where I can only golf 6 months of the year

I like to read a lot, I have a strong interest in politics. I'm trying to decide whether to run for municipal council next fall. I'm interested in and try to stay involved in provincial and federal politics with my elected representatives.

I like to travel in the winter, I speak Spanish so I go to Mexico every year. I enjoy learning about the history of different countries and ancient civilizations. My mother is an archaeologist so I guess I never had a choice.

I enjoy helping friends out with home reno projects. I used to run my own construction business for years so I'm more than a little bit handy to help out.

I've really only been split from my ex-wife for 2 years, so I'm still finding out who I really am. So much of my indentity was based on being with her and my inlaws. It's a big adjustment being single for the first time in my adult life. I do now have the time to golf after not playing for years

Basically just school and sports when i'm not golfing. I spend most of my time at the gym and working out, playing rugby, football and basketball. Or hangin with my friends before/during/after lol.

Not in Florida, fishing and golf are sort of crossover addictions...if the fishing is great....I fish. If not then I golf in the regular league I play. Golf is less expensive and a lot eaisier at the drop of a hat, fishing takes more money and time.

When i can't golf I practice Jiu Jitsu. It has really helped improve my flexibility and helped me work through some lower back problems. Its a great way to stay in shape and i would recomend it to anyone.

Hobbies are the shit. I have so many and there's a bunch more I want to get into, but can't really justify buying the gear for right now (fishing, mountain biking, kayaking).

I love playing basketball, especially because it's the most painless way for me to get in some much-needed cardio. I lift weights fairly often, too.

I spend a ton of time watching TV shows and following pro sports. Not the most exciting hobby, but it's fun.

I like writing songs, essays, and some editorials. I love watching TED Talks for inspiration and I enjoy writing down my own ideas in one way or another.

Another big hobby of mine is checking out various forms of art. Music, books, paintings, photography, movies...I like it all!

I like working with kids. I coach lacrosse for a few different age groups and it's a ton of fun. I find being around kids to be a refreshing change of pace compared to the recurring themes of jobs/money/parties that I can't seem to escape around my peers.

Other than that my time is spent hanging out with my girlfriend or working. Life is good!

Well, I have just gotten back into golf over the past 2 months so I guess it is a budding hobby.

Big sports fan and with that goes Fantasy Football, Baseball and probably golf in the future.

What I like to do when not spending time with my family is brewing beer, like the idea of making something on your own and making what you like.

Also a love to hike, though the past year I have not gotten put as much as I would like.

I am just finishing college so I don't have time for a lot (including golf, sadly).

My father and I drag race from spring to fall.
I enjoy bowling during the winter. My father was very good and got me into it from about 5 years old. So that is a lot of fun.
I am a volunteer youth soccer coach in the spring and fall. My sister is now in high school so I might be done coaching (I helped to coach her teams up until high school).
I played football for about 13 years so I still enjoy watching and playing pick up games.

Poker player, military historian, and coaching my kids in various sports.

A lot of my friends fish. I've gone a few times with them. I like it because it's really peaceful. I'm probably going to start fishing come this spring. I exercise/workout a lot, too. Gotta stay in peak shape. I want to start snowboarding, but when it comes down to it, I'd much rather use $400 and pay for a year of green fees than buy a board.

    • I speak for myself. If I inventory my swing thoughts, swing tempo, optimum muscle tension and rehearse a swing before I take my address, then I pull the trigger reasonably quickly with usually acceptable results. Like a proper program download before deploying it. If I don't bother to by forgetting or just not caring, I am inclined to look for my cues while hovering over the ball after taking the address, while tension builds up and then I fire with a half ass program that is still buffering. I guess that's no better than rolling a dice. In other words, a good pre-shot routine does wonders. I am not advising folks to take 13 practice swings while the flowers wilt waiting for something to happen, but one or maybe two are reasonable and good for you. I am certain hitting half ass shitty shots and making double bogey takes longer than making a par.  My desire this year is to just that as I have not developed a habit taking a practice swing and as a result have tendency to freeze over the ball after address, that is counter productive for both time and result. I think that is what @saevel25 is talking about in the OP.

    • I think there's a difference between taking time over the ball and taking time to play a shot, at least IMO. One thing I've noticed in a few guys I play with who take a long time over the ball to pull the trigger, is that their backswing is really fast and I think it makes it harder to have a smooth rhythmic down swing. It's almost like they take so long to swing that when they do they speed to catch up. Doesn't lead to good golf IMO.

    • As long as it's from a reputable seller it should be just fine. Just make sure the picture of the weight looks the right shaped weight for that specific driver head. You can even weigh it yourself when you get it if you want to be extra sure. Personally I don't consider $15 for something that can greatly change your impact and delivery characteristics to be "not cheap" but that's just my opinion. Especially since you know it's bringing it closer to what you were fit into and you're already saving a bunch of money by going the used/prior model year route too.
