Hi folks, handicap question here, does it reset each 'season'? In other words, do you count scores from the previous year for the handicap calculation? I am by no means a handicap 'expert', in fact I'm not even sure I know the rules, but I was just wondering this. Thanks for any info.

The USGA handicap system is a continuous process. If you only play 10 rounds a year, then half of your scores will be at least a year old. The oldest one of the last 20 drops off each time you post a new score. The best 10 of those last 20 scores will be used to calculate your current handicap.

Handicap season didn't end October 1st in NJ. Both the NJSGA and MGA posting season runs until 10/27. The only place out of season right now is Alaska.

Man, year round in FL. No rest for the weary. I'm working hard core on some new mechanics to try to get to the next level, but it's looking like I'm going to have some good scores drop off the the list before I start posting better ones.

Perhaps I should move to NY.

Oddly were are year round in Georgia as well. Which doesn't seem right. I have played right after frost delays where some of the greens are still frozen and it's like hitting your approach onto painted green concrete. That doesn't include the major roll that you get on and sometimes off the fairways.

    • I had a few tweeks in the bag. I took out my Mizuno pro FliHi 3 iron replaced it with a Titleist GT2 7 Wood. what a change that is, so easy to hit, it goes so high without it ballooning on me. I couldn't get rid of my callaway woods ( Rogue ST Max LS ) but changed the shafts to Diamana BB 63 stiff for the driver and 73 stiff for the 3 wood. Than i got myself a new putter Odyssey S2S jailbird yes i joined the centershaft family
    • First off all i think you should use the same ball all the time. We all strive for consistency on the course, the only factor you can be sure it will be always the same is your ball if you always use the same. So i think we should always use the same. I recently switched from Titleist Pro V1x to Srixon Z-Star Diamond because it i get a bit softer feel around the greens and same results on driver and irons
