playing lessons?

who here has taken playing lessons with their club pro? did you feel like it was worth the money? what did you take out of it? what types of things did he/she show you? As always, thanks for the responses :)

You know I have often wondered the same thing...hopefully someone "chimes" in on that for you. (and for me).

I started playing in April of this year and have taken two lessons. First one was useless, given by pro at my club. Guy just worked on getting me to 'swing' the club rather then hit it. That's great, but my mechanics remained the same...bad. So I had a little better tempo hitting the same pull/slice combos.

I just took a lesson on Thursday with a guy who taped my swing and had an application that allowed him to review the swing real time, show me the plane of the swing, etc. He worked on mechanics and had some drills that helped reinforce the changes. It was amazing, I went from a ridiculously steep over the top mess, to a somewhat correct on plane swing, hitting a nice little draw. He later packaged the video and emailed it to me for review, with a few drills to work on.

The individual teacher makes a HUGE difference, but a good one will do amazing things with your swing.
