Is there an interest in starting a Sand Trap Hole-in-One Club? Maybe have a sticky and we can talk about the course, hole, club, ball and shot of our life. Just wanted to throw it out there for discussion.

I think we have some existing threads on that.

Thing is, if you don't have a hole in one, they're useless, and if you do, you're re-living past glories...

I've never seen much point in them.

But I don't have a hole in one, so... take that for what it's worth.

I got one but how about we all tell what club we used and see which has the most?I wonder if the tour has a record of which club has recorded the most aces? For pros I would think like a 8 or 9 iron.As for me it was a 200 yerd 4 iron.

They are not useless. Hearing someone explain the who/what/when/where/how of their hole-in-one can be inspiring. I think having those stories in one's memory can bring a positive effect on his/her own feelings about making a hole in one. How could it hurt - thinking about great hole-in-one stories before a round...? After I see/hear/read of holes-in-one I'm hungry for the next time I tee one up on a 175 yard hole. I understand your point about reliving past glories, but being that a hole-in-one involves a lot of luck - I like hearing how skill and luck come together to make the perfect shot. But I've had two holes-in-one, so... take that for what it's worth.

I agree with Jay-Bird. Holes in 1 are filled with luck and it's a complete celebration once it occurs. Look how the pros celebrate if their ball finds the cup in one stroke. Clearly, it's something worht noting and I think it has a great place on this forum.

Can you still get trophies from manufacturers? My dad had one, "the" ball sat in a holder.

I had 2 this year and I didn't save the ball or buy a trophy or a plaque. It's just another shot with the difference being it was lucky enough to roll in. In fact the second was the following week and I yelled out "don't go in!!" The guys I was playing with said after it went in, " why would you say that?" I said "because that will be two weeks in a row I gotta buy you f---ers drinks" Hole in ones are over rated. They feel good for about 10 minutes. A great great round is remebered for life, I'd rather had a couple of those this year.

Although not a H in 1, holing out from 50 yards is just as exciting.

Yea, I think it would be cool to specifically hear hole-in-one stories in one thread. I browse through the "best shot of the week" thread every once in a while if I have a couple minutes to burn, and I must say that it is very inspiring to read about some of those shots.

Agreed. I got my first hole-in-one this year and while it is nice to be able to say I finally got one after 22 years of playing; it wasn't some magical experience that anyone else would want to hear. Didn't feel any different to me than chipping in or draining a long putt.

Yet there are stickies for best shot of the week and what did you shoot today? I think the whole experience of the hole in one is quite a moment in ones golfing life. I guess I'll relive the glory by myself and just tell everyone here how great that chip-in on 18 for par was.

Look, at this point, I'll ask an obvious question:

Why, instead of starting a thread asking about starting a thread where people can post stories of their aces didn't you just start a thread where people can post stories of their aces? I'd sticky exactly such a hole-in-one thread if it showed the staying power and posting frequency of the two threads you just mentioned. Most people, however, when they GET a hole-in-one like to start a new thread entirely about their accomplishment...

This is true. We might end up with people posting new threads AND posting in the sticky thread. That would just be plain annoying.

1. new here

2. hole-in-one happened in July 3. was making sure there wasn't already a thread on it or if the topic was beat to death. 4. Didn't really know how many people here actually have one. Appreciate the feedback.

I've always felt that way about it, though I've never had a hole in one. I've come to about a foot several times and hit the flagstick once, but I'm much more excited about growing consistency and decreasing average shot scatter. It's way more thrilling to plan out a shot, select a landing area go through the shot in your mind and execute it perfectly to me than misjudging the wind, picking the wrong area, mishitting the ball, and having it go in.

I agree! For me it was much more rewarding the first time I broke par or finally broke 70. I feel like those accomplishments are a direct result of my hard work, not just luck.

I don't know about anyone else's ace but I WAS aiming at the hole when I got mine.It did not hit off a tree or bounce sideways it went where I aimed it.I do not consider that luck I consider that as a perfect shot.

    • Day 39: did top golf for an hour with the family. It was fun but also not really like real golf at all. Also did some mirror work - working on the backswing stuff mostly.
    • Day 4, 1/2/26.  Played 18 today;  didn't get a chance to warm up (had I known the range was closed, I'd have hit balls at home first).  Played okay, 92 with three balls in the water.  It was raining for more than half the round and I didn't quite appreciate before today just how much I benefit from roll on both drives and approach shots.  I did not adapt well to this change until about hole 15, which is something I have to figure out.
    • Day 143 1-2 Arch wrist in downswing. Having a SLIGHT cup in the lead wrist at the top now. Only paused swings with some rehearsals before swinging at ball.  Used foam ball.
    • Day 459 - 2026-01-02 Had two guys on GEARS Hybrid, so I hopped on afterward (I'm going to do this a lot more often now). So… I've signed myself up for another month of backswing work in two ways: A little more extension of the trail elbow (got into the upper 90s) Less pelvis turn (low 50s).
