I plan to be in San Diego area the end of January. I think I would like to cross the border and play a round in Mexico. Any info, suggestion, etc. on getting to and playing Club Campestre Tijuana?

I haven't tried it and I only know one friend who has, and he thought it was "kind of boring". It seems most people I know around here who cross the border for golf drive a little farther south to Bajamar which is a lovely setting on the ocean with a nice challenging course with a lot of variety. Any course you try, however, will likely be very uncrowded and will welcome you with open arms - tourism in the Tijuana area is tremendously down due to most tourists' fears arising from the drug wars going on.

Never played in there, but check if it is public, cause sometimes the ones that says "Campestre" are private and you will need the invitation of a member in order to play.

Cheers!

    • Day 51 (yesterday was 50, not 59 -- that was a typo).  I didn't have a ton of time today.  I hit a dozen balls with a 6-iron in my practice room.   Amazingly, after this I did the ShotScope analysis of yesterday's round;  my approach play was at the 5 hcp level.  That's pretty darn good, but unfortunately for my score, some of that came from hitting a few good recovery shots.  But I also hit some really good approach shots that weren't from trouble!

    • Shot a 37 today! Palmer Course, PGA National. Really fun. 6/9 GIR, no lost balls. The double and the bogey were both three putts from like 35 feet or so.  The birdie at the last was really fun. I stood over that fifteen footer and thought wow I’m really about to make this, aren’t I? And I hearted it. Really fun. It’s like 9000 degrees outside but I battled through it well. Good times.
    • I had been in a bit of a slump for the month of June. Handicap index has slowly risen, and there were few sub-80 scores. Today was a different story at Leslie Park GC. Lots of solid shots, GIR's, up & downs, for a 77 (7.8 differential). As with most rounds, there were a few loose shots and crappy putts, but it was a good day.
