Most of the stuff written on this forum by MiniMoe has been helpful for my game.

The one that has helped me the most is, "swing easy". Swinging so hard that you are off-balance and off-tempo will mess you up every time.
If you throttle your swing back a bit and only swing at 75%, you will hit the ball much straighter and more solidly.

shoulders parallel to the ground (keeps my swing plane in check)

flatter swing plane with the driver (creates a low launch angle and it doesn't
add excessive lift to the ball)

begin the downswing shifting my weight forward(this is where my power comes from)

knees bent and parallel to the target until impact (forces me to shift my weight properly
and keeps my swing path dead on)

probably the best tip yet is when i address the ball, don't think,
just make my pre-shot routine and hit the ball.........it's what i
do at the range,so i should do it on the course too.

find your tempo and swing. I believe the backswing is the key to a successful golf swing. I found mine by taking my backswing slowly and making a full turn and releasing my shoulder and extending my arms for easy control power.

I am new to golf and I struggled with slicing for quite awhile. I still do some, but nothing like before. I found that I was rotating my forearms on the backswing, and I never quite closed them again on the downswing. I read somewhere on here that when the club reaches parallel on the backswing, the club face angle should match your spine angle. At this point in my old swing, my club face angle was pointing almost straight up. This tip has helped me very much. My drives became straighter, and of course with the straightness came added distance. I even hit a draw (not trying) now and then.

one beats two, two beats three, three beats four, four beats five, five beats six, etc. Best tip ever. Otherwise, tips have not been too useful. However, standing in the trees, comtemplating a low hook over a lake to an impossible pin, knowing you can do it at least one out of ten times.... and then hearing that little voice say, "five beats six" has been very useful.

Wedge face open versus square will help determine the ball reaction once it hits the ground. Open to open the ball will land bounce right and stop relatively quickly. Square to turn over and the same wedge will cause the ball to roll out.

1) using your feet to guage the distance of your putts, inside of back feet, outside of my back feet, etc.

2) having a slight pause between the transition of my putt from backstroke to forward stroke

1) Weight and ball foward in your stance on sand shots
2) Keeping the putter low to the ground on your backstroke to help keep it on line.

understanding different club face positions and ball reactions when chipping and different ball positions:

Open club face and the ball will stop and bounce right.

closed club face and the ball will run out to the left.

square club face and the ball will run out.

Maintaining a steady head has helped me more that any other tip. Jack Nicklaus says it was one of the secrets to his success. Hank Haney also teaches about the importance of a steady head. There are lots of other tips but this one is tops for me...especially once you get the basics down.

1) Tempo
2) Bury feet in sand for greenside bunker shots
3) Exaggerate hands leading the clubhead for bunker shots
4) ALWAYS follow through on bunker shots, whatever the strike
5) Low, slow takeaway on backswing
6) Initiate downswing using lower body (hip slide, weight shift, whatever)
7) Hood the clubface for plugged lies in greenside bunkers
8) Preshot routine (as long as it's not tooooo slow!)
9) In windy conditions, factor the wind and then take an EXTRA club again and hit easy; minimise the spin on the ball
10) Pitch at the TOP of the flag; people are rarely long on approaches

Sure there are more but these jump immediately to mind. They all helped a lot but if I had to pick 6, 7 and 9 would be my top picks.

Don't think so. He's in Exeter which is in Devon in the South-West of England; nice area of the World which I wouldn't mind getting back to.

    • You can pre-order an R50 here for pretty rapid shipping (these are back-ordered almost everywhere): https://www.playbetter.com/products/garmin-approach-r50-golf-launch-monitor-simulator?ghref=2301%3A700794. This is an affiliate purchase, and I'm willing to kick back lifetime ad-free Supporter membership here on TST or a 90-minute GEARS session for the cost of a regular member lesson (about 1/3 the cost). Also, I'll record a video myself soon when I get an R50.
    • Day 58 - 2024-11-27 Some quick 90-yard shots on a particular hole… before a lesson and testing out multiple Foresight Launch Monitors on GSPro.
    • Day 209 (27 Nov 24) - Easy session with the LW - short pitches replicating greens side up and downs. Finished up with the 7i and hard foam balls - making 1/2 to 3/4 swings with deliberately slowed tempo…from varied lies.
    • Yes, this is the 2024 model. DSG ruined what Callaway perfected for most golfers. A darn good 3 piece golf ball. Now it's a 2 piece cheap ball. To me a 2 piece ball is fine and a 3 piece budget ball is better. I prefer a slightly harder ball, something in the 65-75 compression range that will perform similar to the old Gamer. The Titleist tru-feel is pretty good. I planned on giving Maxfli straightfli a try.
