this was my first year in highschool golf as a freshmen i won 1 meet and got 10th place in a 68 player tournament...

but heres my problem, at districts we played at a really tough course, with a lot of 2 foot tall grass and a lot of out of bounds

when im driving or i have a 200 plus yard shot i psych myself out, i can drive straight but i hate when if i dont it goes ob or is almost impossible to find.

what are some thing i can do to stay relaxed in these situations?

The club speed of a driver is near or over 30 to 50 miles an hour faster than a 6 or 9 iron or more things can go wrong if you are not focuses and prepared to hit your driver and if you have negative thoughts its even worse.

If you have a problem slicing or hooking your shot remember what swing thought you are concentrating on in preparation of hitting your drive and rehearsh the backswing and swing in preparation of hitting your shot. I tend to draw and I focus on keeping the club face from turning over after impact too soon on my pre-swing routine.

Other tips could be to swing at 70% or by choking up on your driver to have more control and hit more fairways, play the tee box away from trouble or your swing path ( draw hit from the left side and faders on the right side of the tee box). lastly use a 3 wood for tight fairways and deep rough instead of the driver.

Not only will you hit more fairways but your thinking will impress your coach, good luck, have fun and stay positive even after a bad shot.

Nice photo...that's one way to stay relaxed. On the course, have a routine and stick to it...that will help you in anxious situatios.
