Can anyone recommend a pro in the St. Louis area that works through the winter, pretty much full time, does not sell carpet or used cars on the side, etc that I can rely on to teach me how the swing works? I have been stood up by 3 pros in 3 weeks because of their other jobs, they are cutting hours because of family etc and I am about to go crazy.

I really like the game but without the proper instruction I am going to quit and so far I've had extremely bad luck with trying to get an instructor to meet with every week/2 weeks who can teach me how the swing works, what I need to look for, etc.

Thanks,

Mike

Across the river in Illinois, you might try:

Dan Polites at DP Golf Center next to Clinton Hill Golf Course in Belleville. Has open-ended shed for hitting balls onto range for cold-weather lessons. Dan's also a high shool golf coach - he's full-time golf. 618-233-9500

Michael Wyatt @ GolfGalaxy in Fairview Heights. I work with Mike. Will build swing over a year of so - if you're willing to work on it. He e-mails a video summary of each lesson to your home computer for you to review before you practice.

On Missouri side, there's a driving range in the Chesterfield Valley area which has several good pros. Met one of them who volunteered for U.S. Women's Amateur at Bellerive this summer.

Thanks.

I am in Eureka and work in Fenton so the IL side wouldn't be good.

I never thought about the golf pro at a Golf Galaxy. Do they work with you in the store?

Yes.

Lesson station has a video camera and computer to record and analyze your swing, before and after. Does split screen - shows original swing with flaws on left, then your improved swing after advice from pro on right. Pro can also draw lines and angles on the screen to show the proper way to set up/move. GG uses Internet Sports Academy software system, and pro e-mails video lesson summary to your home computer. Then you can review it before you practice. You could probably load it onto an iPod and take it to range with you. Also... * If you have a question between lessons, you could drop by shop or send e-mail to get answer. * GG instructors are PGA and LPGA certified professionals, not some guy who sells carpeting during the day.

    • I have fought shoulder issues and seem to now have a pull/baby fade going on.  Not a great video, but are these numbers ok or should i try to get in to out.  I've realized this winter my concept of in to out was wrong in that what felt in to out was actually just the face being open to get it right.  The first one was rushed the second one is more typical.  Minor pull or if the numbers line up baby fade back to target.

    • I suppose Rory will indulge in a bit of guilty pleasure giving Bryson some of his own medicine. Saw a piece of Rory's interview on some documentary about last year's Masters where BDC was still trying to game/mess with him long after he had stopped being a factor. At least that was Rory's perspective. Dude's a huntn dog and a storyteller. I'm going to enjoy this one knowing the end even more so than last year. And yeah, I know it's only half way through but Im early celebrating this one.
