I was watching the coverage of the tournament from Disney yesterday, and was very impressed with Steven Ames 64 for the win. Felt bad for Justin Leonard, but delighted for Ames. His ten year old boy seemed to enjoy it as well. Up here he gets overshadowed by Mike Weir, but I like to see him do well too.

I really like his swing. Very smooth---a tiny bit across the line at the top, but love his rhythm/upper and lower body fluid movement.

IFelt bad for Justin Leonard,

I didn' t after watching those pathetic putts of his in the playoff. Imagine leaving BOTH of them short!

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

I'm sure there were big smiles all around at the Ames house.

I think the Canadian press prefers Weir because 1.) he was a Canadian long before he was a professional golfer 2.) he played minor hockey. Does the American press consider Martina Navratilova an American? They should.

I was there on sunday and Im surprised that the final score wasnt in the 20 sumthins under par. Every body played pretty good and conditions were favorable for low scores. I walked with howell III and then Fowler for awhile then sat on the 18 and watched from there. Seen some great shots and even seen a dear run into the middle of # 9 fairway while the Fowler group was teeing off haha, Freaked me out because I was like 15 yards away.

    • I'm seeing Ben Griffin and Lexi Thompson, so… … that feels like a stretch. Need at least three others, IMO, to count as a "handful" and you need some names for me to care more than "Ben Griffin."

    • On the subject of teenagers in professional tournaments there is a kid (Kris Kim) who is a member of my club in England and is at my old school. He’s 16. He’s playing in the pga tour event in Texas this week. Shot 69 yesterday for T31 and is -2 today through 5 holes. T55 and on the cut line. I really hope he makes the cut. Will be awesome.    His dad I believe is a teaching pro and his mum was on the LPGA Tour for a while.
    • I have two contenders here that stick out to me: In second place, a putt to win the hole playing the 16th hole at Burnham and Berrow. Playing foursomes and the green has a big bank at the front then a flat bit and then it goes up again to a back shelf. My partner had hit our second shot onto the back shelf. We were 2up at the time and he was being a little wobbly so we didn’t want to lose the hole. Our oppo were conceded a 4 and my partner told me to just lag it down there nicely. 20 year old me meant to do that and failed. I hit it a bit hard and it was definitely going to clear the tier and probably run off the front of the green, but it hit the hole right in the middle and went in. My partner was very happy we won the hole but quite upset at my ability to follow instructions.    Number 2 is my most memorable. I was about 16 playing in the junior knockout at my club. We get to the 10th hole - long par 4 and index 2. I didn’t hit a very good drive, hit my second up about 60 yards short and pitched on to maybe 25 feet. I started walking and I got this feeling. I knew I was going to hole it. There was no doubt at all. I’ve never felt like that any other time in my life but this one putt was a certainty. It was February and the greens had been recently hollow tined so they were in awful shape. I didn’t even line it up. I hit my putt and it bumped and bounced all over the place until it went in the middle of the hole. If I could bottle up that feeling and sell it I’d be up there with Bezos and musk. Mind blowing!
