so im getting a new 5 wood off of Ebay soon and these are my two options. ive hit both of these clubs in a 3 wood and i love the sound and feel that steel headed clubs have. also they have a smaller head than usual and sit well behing the ball. Im getting a 5 wood so has anyone else hit them and how do you like them? also are the v steel fairways actually "steelheaded" like the callaway? and any other opinions would be very appreciated! thanks

They are both really good fairway woods -- classics really.

I have a V-Steel 3W and 5W, even though I game a Tour Edge Exotics 4W in place of both of them most of the time. Occasionally I drop the V-Steels back in the bag and pull my 19ΒΊ hybrid. I hit them well -- the V-Steels are just very solid clubs. For quite a few years the V-Steels were the most popular fairway woods on the PGA tour and for good reason.

Same with the Cally Steelhead Plus. I have a good friend who plays a Steelhead Plus 3W and 5W and I doubt they'll ever leave his bag until he literally breaks the heads.

Pick which one you like the best (look at address, etc.) and also consider which one's shaft will likely fit your game the best. Either one is very solid and if you can't hit them don't blame the clubs.

I would say TaylorMade but then I might be a little biased

I have the Callaway Steelhead Reissue woods(essentially Steelhead Plus' with gray paint) and love them. The 3 and 5 woods are go-to clubs for me. I actually have two sets, Dr-3-5-7, with the M10 steel shafts. I have used them for many years, and tested many newer, but the Steelheads remain. The 5 occasionally gets swapped out with my 19* hybrid depending on the course and weather.

In my  Warbird Hot stand bag:
nike.gif Dymo2 Str8 fit 10.5 or  HiBore XLS 10.5,  Steelhead Plus 3 and 5 woods,

 NP2 3H,  DCI 990 4-PW,  Forged + 54/12,  RAC 58/8,

Classic #1,  NXT Tour or  Burner TP

I play the V-steels and they are very good clubs. Nice classic look at adress and nice sound when struck well.

Fitted mine with Proforce V-2 75 Stiff shafts. Good combination! Helped a lot on my trajectory wich was a bit high with the stock shafts.

Have not tried the Callaways.

What I Play:
Ping Rapture V1 9Β° stock UST stiff | Taylormade V-steel, 15Β° and 18Β°, UST Proforce V2 stiff | Mizuno MP-57 3-PW Project X 5.5 | Titleist Vokey Spin Milled 52.08/58.12 | 35" Scotty Cameron Studio Select | Titleist Pro V1 | Leupold GX-1 Rangefinder

I heard about those Callaways.

They're meant to be great.
Wouldn't cost too much either.
Give them a go.

I don't know about the Taylormades but people think the steel-heads are the best fairway woods made.

Thanks for the info guys! what about the sound? i have hit the steelheads alot mor than the v-steels, and i know that they made a pretty exploding load sound at impact, but its still crisp. Its been a while since ive hit the v-steel so i cant remember if it has that same sound or is a little less of that "ping" sound. any comments? thanks alot!
