Hello everyone,

I've been into golf now for over 2 years and took it up last year. My game has improved greatly over the past year and now I'm actually watching golf on tv when I used to dislike it!

At the moment golf is in full-swing with the Australian PGA on at the moment. Couple of big names in the leader board with Adam Scott and Robert Allenby taking it up with one day to go.

Anyway been looking for a forum just today and came across this one, so hopefully i'll stick around.

Good to have you on board. Think you will like it, but as always, pays to have a thick skin!
Had a chance to visit your country a few years back, great place, great people.

Never quite understood that phrase. What does tossing a few crustaeceans on a blonde have to do with anything.

Noticed John Daly has benn whacking a few there as well.

lol... well, back in the day when australia was trying to recruit americans to boost their tourism. so they did an ad with paul hogan, better known as crocodile dundee. it goes a little somethin' like this:

We were originally going to play Quail Ridge but ended up moving some things around and are going to do the following when we go in May Day 1 Tobacco Road Day 2 Southern Pines and Pine Needles Day 3 Tot Hill Farm There are a couple good course vlog/matches on YouTube at Southern Pines, it looks awesome.

      I got two trips lined up this year.  First, Pinehurst next month. Qual Ridge, Mid Pins, Southern Pines 😁, Mid South, Talamore. I am looking forward to playing Southern Pines since it got redone.  Second, a trip to eastern Wisconsin in early August. Whistling Straights, Blackwolf Run, Erin Hills.

      You are probably doing the right thing in having more fairway woods or hybrids in your bag than irons. Just easier to maximize ball speed for you swing speed to get the proper gaps.  A driver is teed up, so you have more leeway there. The 7-wood is probably more optimized for carry for you. A slower swing speed needs higher launch and spin to keep the ball in the air. With the 3-wood, it probably launches too low with not enough spin to keep it in the air.  If you are not going to go get lessons, or do some sort of swing speed training, go get fitted for clubs. Clearly your mix-match of equipment is not optimized.

      32 putts are average for a single digit handicap golfer. Limiting three putting is the biggest task. Speed control is the most important aspect of putting. Probably the 2nd most important is aim.  The putter is going to rotate open a bit on the backstroke. It might stay square to the arc of the putting stroke, but that does mean the face opens up a bit on the backstroke when measured against where the face is oriented at address. Go get a putter lesson as well.
