Found this on Digg.com. I know people were questioning the authenticity of golf items purchased on eBay. This fraud ring was worldwide.

I buy/sell on Ebay, but get nervous about Callaway/Taylormade. Ping stamps every hosel with the serial #,and you can check.Callaway stamps the 8 iron, but I guess they can fake serial #`s also. I recently bought a Scotty Cameron on Ebay, and the seller emailed me,saying he had just bought a selection of clubs, and some were fake, but he wasn`t sure if the Cameron was real or fake.REFUND!It looked perfect in the pic`s,but???I guess I got a little off the subject, but be careful and buy from a reputable person/company.Happy Holidays to every one,and pray for Tiger-he`s messed up,done wrong, but golf life/private life is seperate,I don`t judge, and I don`t want to lose him! I don`t even watch normally if Tiger is not playing, and I love golf!!!Happy Holidays!!!

PING's hosel stamped serial number in no way guarantees it's authenticity.

Ebay is full of scammers.

I simply will not buy anything from that glorified flea market. If I can't put my hands on it before paying, then it ain't gonna happen. I've bought stuff from Craig's List, but only local, so I could see before I buy. Maybe I'm a bit cynical, but I'd rather pay a bit more and get what I know is the genuine article.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I've bought alot of clubs on ebay. You just have to be wary of sellers that don't have a ton of feedback. There are definitely alot of legitimate sellers. I verified my last set as being real by calling Mizuno and verifying the serial numbers. Another indicator of fraud is if the deal is too good. If someone is selling a brand new R9 for 150 dollars, I would bet it is fake.

I have also had really good luck with eBay. I also look for sellers with lots of positive feedback. Also, like 4Putt says, if the deal looks too good, it is probably suspect.

    • Day 550, May 5, 2024 Got a good hour in with a typical (for me) two-stick setup: pool noodle angled in front, yardstick on the ground angled 45° behind me.
    • Day 130: Cinco de Mayo Day 7/24 of Full Speed Spectrum training. Difficult training day after struggling to certify my warmup yesterday, and today. Finished 13 mph lower than my training speed on Thursday. Hope to hit some balls today.
    • Yeah, I think I misread that part. I read "in front of" and kinda skipped the rest.
    • We just completed our winter league (Jan 1 - April 30)  Our scoring was simple.  We used the 18 birdies app.  You get 1 point for every member of the league you beat head to head in an 18 hole round (no handicap).  You also get a point for completing the round.  Therefore 4 members play a round- winner of the round gets 4 points, runner-up gets 3, third gets 2, and last gets 1.  Points accumulate throughout the season.  You can play as many times as you want. Our winner accumulated 110 points while second was 102 and third was 97.  We had a total of 16 members in the league.  No issues whatsoever.  All about fun.
