Ok, now it's starting to suck. Doesn't look like it will get out of the 30's this week. And I'm ready to play. First really cold winter stretch since I moved here. Can't wait for my Orlando trip in two weeks!!

Dr, I am glad you aren't coming to Orlando this week, we're covering the strawberries with ice to keep them warm down here.

It ain't bragging if you can do it.

LOL,,,40 degrees, that's almost short's and t-shirt weather!

yeah... I still think it's funny when I see people with winter coats and parkas when it's 40*... I will wear short at about 60* and short sleeves is anything above 50-55*. I still have Michigan blood, but I am starting to get used to the heat a little. The high-tech shirts help.

No kidding, this is getting out of hand... my heat pump doesn't even keep my house at 68* through the night... I get up and it's like 63-5*... even the 10 day forecast looks pretty bad. Where are the 50's we should be hitting. Guess I'll just have to play more hockey for now.

I'm wishing it were 40* now... we have been low 30's most of the day if we're lucky and teens at night.

I played last Wednesday with temps at ~34* at the course, with wind chill indicated 26*. I wore as much clothing as I could without feeling restricted and I can definitely say it was rough when facing into the wind, so I'd say 35* with any wind is about my cutoff. It's the first time I've played in the cold, definitely a new experience seeing the ball bounce on the green like I'd hit a cart path (not quite that bad).

Does anyone have a rule of thumb or calculation to show what a change in temp does to distance the ball flies? I was generally down one club with my irons. I never really hit my driver this summer and tried it during this round, the thought was that we were losing ~20yds on drives. Don't know if that's wishful thinking or if that's a solid number. The ball seemed to come off the face well enough, but they'd just hang up and die.

When it is not snowing here its 25 with 30+ mph winds. Mother nature hasn't been kind yet this winter.

Ok, the thing on my desk is telling me it might get up to 43 on Wednesday. Making plans now! I'm ready!

Of course Wed will be the warmest day this week... I will be watching my daughter and working from home. SOB! Tomorrow when I CAN play it will be cold as hell, and cold again for the weekend... total BS.

LMAO!!

BM, I would invite you down for a round, but the weather just doesn't seem permissible. This cold recently has been quite rediculous. I am used to 50* here, with a chilly day occasionally. Maybe its the beginning of the new iCE aGE? I guess we can get some black balls to play with if that happens. Maybe, I will get with you again when the weather breaks 40*. BTW, I think I'm going to get me the 9032 driver we had talked about before, I tried one out and really liked it.

yeah... I'd be happy to meet you someplace for a round if the weather breaks... or whenever. I am always looking for people to play with. You should click on that link in my sig for pickup18, they have some cool events and are starting a tour next year.

As for that driver... you liked it eh'... I definately have to go try one soon. The newest speedline (the FAST10) was in GD on the Hot List, not that I put too much stock in that. Anyway... hope the driver works out, and just give me a heads up if you want to play. I play sporadically on one of the 3 days my wife gets off work which are different each week, but she usually has her schdule about a month in advance, so I can plan around it pretty easy.

    • Day 85 - 2026-03-17 30 minutes of putting work, 15 chipping. Getting reacquainted with the Scottsdale green and greenside terrain. Really freaking hot here.
    • Day 9 (17 Mar 26) - Worked with alignment today to work on getting properly lined up with target point using alignment rods.  Worked on getting takeaway parallel to alignment line.  Solid session.
    • Day 212 3-17 Flow work and arching. Hit some foam balls. Recorded
    • Im struggling to hit a 3 wood any distance. Im 67 now and used to use a 3 wood all the time. My swing speed with the 3 woods is between 80-84. I am only 5'5" tall. I currently have 4- 3 woods in my used club selection. I have an old Titliest 910FD, a Taylormade Sim2, a PXG gen 4 and a Ping G430. None of these can i hit more than 180 yards and often much shorter. My driver which is a Ping G430 I hit about 210-225. Heres the crazy thing, I carry a Taylormade Sim2- 7 wood that I hit 175-185. I carry an older titliest H1 Hybrid 23* that i hit 165-175. All yardages are with carry. When i hit both the Hybrid and the 7 wood they feel like very solid strikes yet I never feel like i hit any of these 3 woods solid. All of these clubs have regular shafts of different manufacturers. I would like to be able to hit a 3 wood 200 yards. Im thinking I need to start playing with shafts, Maybe even shorten them some. I have equipment to pull shafts and set swingweights and reglue. I have a bunch of reg flex old driver shafts that i could shorten. My driver, 7 wood and Hybrid are all D3 Swingweight. The 3 woods are D3 as well.  Where would you start? Thanks Rod
    • This was a great read from start to finish. Ive been watching the LAB putters for 3 or 4 years now. Ive never been a good putter and Ive worked at putting but i just dont seem to get better at it. I play at least 3 times a week with a 11.6 Hdcp and i have owned probably 20+ putters over my last 10 years. Ive even tried the broomstick putters which at first I thought helped but as time went on i missed just as many putts. For me it comes down to nerves which i struggle to control when putting. I always feel like i have someone leaning over me watching my every move when i putt. I had a friend I play with this fall go get fitted for a LAB and he came back all excited, he bought one and he was already a player that probably averages 32 putts a round. So i think I would say hes a good putter. I used his putter a few times and the feeling i get compared to my putter which right now is a Ping Vault 2.0 Piper and just before that an Evnroll ER5v and before that Spyder Ghost........anyway the feeling I notice was that i can take the putter back without it twisting some. At least thats the feeling i get. I dont know if i would be a better putter with a LAB putter but after this year i will know as I went and was fitted and have one on the way. I can only hope it makes a differnce. If not ive got plenty of putters to fall back on!  Rod
