I just got a screaming deal on some Nike forged blade irons from my local golf spot.. They are practically brand new! they hit smooth and I cannot wait to use them this golf season. The only concern that i have with them is that the grips seem slippery. Any ideas as to why or how to get some stickiness back into them? Or could this just be the way the "stock" Nike grips come?

Try washing them with warm water and soap. This should help a little.

Try the wash and rinse trick first, but likely you need to regrip. Or you could wear all weather gloves on both hands - that would be cool!

I played those all weather gloves this season. They felt great except they screwed up my grip when I went back to 1 glove. I worked its self out after a round or so, but you may want to consider this before you go the two glove route.

I actually wear zero gloves. My wife doesn't mind the calluses. Maybe it's a Canadian thing.

I have washed them with a towel and warm water but have not tried using soap, ive read that you have to be careful going that route or you could make it slipperier then when you started. could that also ruin the grip at all? thanks for the tips

Key is to use a little liquid dishwashing detergent in hot water in the wash bucket.

* Soak the grips in wash bucket for a couple of minutes. * Scrub each grip lightly with soft brush; Rinse in second bucket of hot, clean water. * Then towel-dry each grip so the moisture doesn't soak your name sticker off the club shaft. * Let grips air dry. 1. Don't use liquid hand soap, as some brands have hand-softener which stay on grips. 2. If scrubbed and rinsed grip is still slippery, it's time to replace it. You could always start the season with new grips; good deals on regrips during winter slowdown.

spray a little windex on the grip. always works for me. brings some tackiness back into the grip, and is alot cheaper than regripping an entire set.

Soap will not hurt the grips. If the grips are basically new, but slick from sitting around, you can probably wash them. What I do to clean mine is use the double sink in the kitchen, one side with warm, soapy water, the other with warm, clean water. I put the grips in the warm soapy water and then scrub them with a nylon brush, like what you use to clean potatoes. Rinse them in the clean water, dry them off and they are as tacky as when they were new. You can get a longer life from your grips. If you find that after washing them and playing they are slick again, time to replace them!
