Just picked up my brand new set of Mizuno MP-52's. Project X 5.5 shafts!!!

Now the worst part is the wait and anticipation of using them for the first time!

Funny side note. I had been playing some older MP-32's I had picked up used on EBAY. Turns out the shafts were all +1" . So looking forward to using clubs properly fitted to me!!!

You'll love them. I picked up a set a couple weeks ago with PX5.5s, including a 2iron(actually a long 3iron bent to 2iron loft), two vokeys in 54 and 60*, and a new Mizuno MP-T10 50*for $250. I wasn't planning on a new set, I just got my MX-23s in the middle of last summer, but this deal seemed to be pretty good. I've been working the 52s into my set and really haven't seen a big difference in forgiveness with between the 23s and 52s. I actually feel MORE confident standing over the smaller face on the 52s as well. No difference in distance that I can see with the 2* reduction in loft, roughly the same trajectory. MUCH better feel on good swings, finally experiencing the sweet feel you hear about with Mizunos.

After one round I can say I'm thoroughly impressed with my new set up. Even playing the MP-32's I've never hit a club that made me feel like I was hitting a pad of butter. The feel of the club on the ball when you make good to perfect contact is unreal... I can't wait to get them dialed in.

    • Day 63 (12 May 26) - Nine hole session today with my friend Mike  - worked on approach distances to have good opportunities to set up for up and downs around the greens.  It made for a good time to discipline myself to not get greedy but rather steady.
    • Knocked off #8 (a tough one to get) today with a mini driver, a chipped 9I, and about a 25-footer in the eight holes I played tonight.
    • You're right.  Side note, and funny story, the only time I can remember hitting a shot O.B. on that hole for the second shot, it was a topped shot where I started near the O.B. marker.  I wonder if I'm not getting as good a shot as I could because I'm nervous about O.B., but I'm not hesitating to hit a 4W if I get a good lie.
    • Day 262 5-12 Got an early practice session in this morning. Arms off body was the main focus with getting chest through with speed, I did much better with wrist arching through the downswing.
    • Yea, developing a proper shot zone for that approach should would be helpful. If you are bringing OB into play more than you like, then it is either needs to be an accepted reward for the risk. If you hit 10 shots from that tee ball landing area. If like 1 ball goes OB, that could be outlier shots you need to discard. If more than that is creeping in, then it is probably not the correct shot.  Maybe it needs to be more nuanced. Maybe you hit more shots OB from the left side of the hole than right due to shot shape. If you hit it left to right, maybe being on the left side makes you aim further right, bringing in OB right. It could be an aiming issue.
