Titleist vs. Callaway fairway woods

Callaway is comming out with two new Diablo woods; the Edge and the Edge Tour.

I think they will be introduced Feb 15.

But based on what I've read both here and in magazines, Titleist is considered a better club for low handicapers.

callaway probably have more of a range ability wise because titleist make clubs for people who can really play but callaway cater for more people

For what its worth I bought a Titleist 906f4 last year and struggled with it. It was a bit of a rash purhase really as I was looking for something to hit off the tee and therefore the 906f2 would probably have been a better choice.

Its not the best club for tee shots. The shallow profile make it easy to sky ball. I use mine off the tee but tee it up maybe 1/4"

I have a 906f2 and 906f4. I switch back and forth depending on where I am playing. I also have a 904f 17* with the v2 High Launch shaft and its cut down to the length of a 3H... That club is money for me... I will put that in the bag on the shorter courses.

I've never been a fan of Titleist woods (play their wedges and irons, though). I just don't find them very forgiving and I don't like the "feel" and look of them.

I have always been a Callaway guy when it comes to woods/metals, though. I have a Big Bertha 2007 3 Wood that is great off the tee when the driver isn't cooperating and is wonderful off the fairway. Because of the wide/flat sole, however, it doesn't do as well out of the rough. It is the most forgiving club in my bag and the distance and control is incrediable.

I also play a Callaway X 5 Wood. It is good off the fairway, but incrediable out of the light rough. Which I think is due to the sole design. It is forgiving (though not as forgiving as the Big Bertha), long and straight.

And (which is part of the reason I love Callaway) both the X series and the Big Bertha series look and sound fantastic!

I really don't like the way the Diablo woods look when you address the ball. The hozzle-to-head connection is funky to me. But that new Diablo with the traditional hozzle is intriguing.

I still use my Callaway Hawkeye VFT 3 & 5 fairway wood and absolutely love it! I have tried several times to replace these to more recent fairway woods but no other fairway woods could replace my babies.

I used to carry all Titleist clubs in my bag. I'm starting to think that Callaway is making the best clubs out there right now. I love my forged blades, the 660s, so I won't change them until I feel the need to. I switched from the 905r to the FT-5 last year and I couldn't believe the difference. I had a Titleist 3 wood as well but got rid of that for a Diablo 3 wood. Titleist makes good clubs, I just feel that Callaway is currently putting out a better product. Hot off the face and damn forgiving, can't beat it.
