How do people feel one about each? Which do you prefer? I'm weighing 3 options for a new 3-wood: Titleist 909f2, Callaway FT , or the Callaway X Fairway . The 3-wood is an often-used club in my bag, as I enjoy hitting it off the tee when the driver is being a dork. So I want to get something that's good off the tee as well as off the deck.

Any opinions would be great. I'm typically a Titleist homer, but I've always hit Callaway 3-woods for some reason. I like the feel of all three clubs (although I've only hit them off the turf pad at the range).

I really like the 909f2. The face angle on them is sweet.

The closed face on my current 3wood can be aggravating sometimes.

The 909f2 gets the ball up on a nice trajectory for me with their version of the Diamana Blue.

The sound/feel is nice as well.

I don't have any experience with Callaway woods since the Steelhead days. I'm sure those ft's are probably
nice, too.

Which one of the 906 series was the "higher launchers" if I dare use that term?

For what it's worth, I replaced my 15' FT Tour with a 13' 909F3 and haven't looked back. The 909F3 is a far better club in every aspect (for me anyway).

...I'm weighing 3 options for a new 3-wood: Titleist 909f2,

I have a Callaway X Tour 3W w/R flex shaft. Tour models come in 13* and 15*, and have slightly taller/deeper face than comparable woods. Stock shaft is Fuji E360 with a midkick/flexpoint. Good off fairway or tee; w/ deeper face I don't have frequent pop-ups off tee I had with old low-profile 3W. Can get a hot shot with a slight draw.

Also, you might try an X Hot 3W; has larger head, and 44" shaft. These are rather hard to find new. | Not familiar with FT woods.

Focus, connect and follow through!

I bought a FT Tour 13 degree 3 wood just recently and I love it! I got it from Callaway used for about half the price of a brand new one, and it looks new to me! Have only hit it indoors at one of the local simulators but hope to hit it outdoors when it warms up a bit.....I bought a FT 2H at the same time; a great match to go with the 3 wood.

If I've always hit a 15-degree 3wood, would the 15.5' 909F2 be a drastic difference in terms of ball flight or results?

I'm still hitting my old Callaway Warbird 3-wood. It's really solid still, but it's just getting close to upgrade time.

I'm gonna have to vote with the Callaway lovers...I have Callaway Warbird 3,5 and heaven woods...all with upgraded prolaunch shafts that i regularly switch out with my hybrid/cleveland fairway...reliable and i think still one of the best lines of clubs to ever come out IMHO.

For what its worth I bought a Titleist 906f4 last year and struggled with it. It was a bit of a rash purhase really as I was looking for something to hit off the tee and therefore the 906f2 would probably have been a better choice.

This season I have gone back to a Callaway Steelhead III - it remains a wonderful club.

Driver - RAM FX V
3 Wood - Callaway Steelhead Hybrid - Mizuno MP Fli-Hi 21 degree
Irons - Titleist DCI 4-PW
Wedges - Cleveland CG10, 52, 56, 60 degree
Putter - Rife Antigua

Likely a negligible difference. Nether Titleist nor Callaway have tight enough tolerances for that 1/2 degree to make much of a difference.

    • Imma throw a dart in the dark as no one can tell what is happening once every fourth iron shot per your OP. This might sound counterintuitive but if ball position is too far back in the stance folks are known to throw down clubhead steeply. Could be happening. And yes, @billchaois not wrong; clubhead tends to bottom out wherever your pressure is. So slide forward (not sway), then hit.
    • Day 300 (!): did a stack session.
    • Day 24: Missed my weekly round due to a last minute little league makeup game this morning. Managed to get in some backswing rehearsals while grilling sausages for dinner, and then putted around the office/laundry room after dinner.
    • but I don't understand how that's possible you still want your head to stay back you don't want the upper body coming forward and plus I've tried feeling that and it made my fat shots worse and I then tend to pull and sky all my shots especially with driver because I get in front of it dont need force plates to see i finish on my left side
