Quick question b/c i can't seem to find an answer and i know guys here have done it. What is the process for paintfilling in clubs? i.e. what paint to use, sanding if needed, prep, etc. ?

I have always used a hobby store paint. Get some good model plane or model car paint and and a tiny brush. Clean where ever you plan in filling back in of all the dirt and what not. Paint in (im guessing your doing the numbers?) and don't worry about getting paint all over the club. Fill it it nice and thick. Give the paint 20 mins, than take a paper towel with a TINY pit of water and ever so gently wipe away the excess paint around the number. Then let the clubs dry for a couple of hours to ensure they dry all the way.

not myself.... a friend wants to do his numbers and his putter over (he's got an older odyssey and the sight lines and whatnot are gonzo) and unfortunately he doesn't have this site to help him out lol. would taping of the club be beneficial? i told him i'd help and if it came out well i'd do my putter too but i was wondering. could i tape it and use an airbrush using hobby paint as well? thanks for the suggestion, much appreciated...

This is the same process I have used to paint fill.

Acetone. You can get it at most hobby shops with the paint. Also at most hardware stores. Its cheap.

I usually just use my wife's nail polish remover. Just apply a good amount of the remover, let it sit for a minute or so (you might have to keep applying it because it evaporates quickly), and the paint should come right off. I did this to one of my putters (SC Studio Select Newport 2) a few weeks ago thinking I was going to repaint it, but I actually really like it with no paintfill at all.

awesome, if it goes well i'm probably going to do my sabretooth in some new colors. (hate the red/black/white thanks to my college colors overwhelming me) i just bought a new iomic in a royal blue so i might do a scheme...who knows. if i do i'll be sure to post pics.

Most of the time we are polishing clubs and that takes the paint off, but like others have said acetone or nail polish remover. My vote is for acetone on that. You shouldn't need to tape any part of the club up, like i said, just use a small hobby brush and hobby paint and let it sit. Its really easy and something like that can make a club look much better!

Acetone does work better, but for lazy people like me that don't want to get off the couch to go to the hardware store, nail polish remover is a lot more convenient.
