I have a chance to buy one of these for a very good price from a co-worker who's down on his luck right now. I'm currently gaming a Callaway FT-i, but I'm very inconsistant with it compared to other 3 woods I've had in the past. I've read the reviews, but want to know what the average golfer thinks about this 3 wood and the FCT technology, since I haven't had a chance to try this thing out yet.

Some reviews say they noticed very little change when they made adjustments on the hosel, where others noticed a huge change. Is it mental? Or does it work?

It does make a difference. The people that do not see a difference are changing their swing and negating the difference. If the swing stays the same and your change the clubface the ball almost always will differ in path.

I bought both the R9 460 and 3 wood and I would give the 460 away for free before having to give away the 3 wood. LOVE IT. VERY, VERY, VERY, consistent when you find the position for you.

I told the guy I would buy the R9, but I'm afraid with a teenager in the house that's using my 15 year old hand-me-downs from when I learned to play, that the FT-i will more than likely end up in his bag to replace his Knight 3 Wood.

I bought an R9 3 wood a couple of months ago, mainly for how it looked and sat behind the ball at address. It is very consistent and I hit it very straight. I didn't buy it for the adjustable shaft but thats a cool feature to play around with on the range, it doesn't make a huge difference to your shot shape. I have it set to neutral and find it easier than my previous nike sq 3 wood to hit off the deck. I'd say go for it.
