If anything I think a large number of golfers would be better served not using all 14 clubs. I know I would. This season I plan to take some clubs out of my bag, I'm just not good enough for some of the clubs to make a difference and all it does is get me in trouble overthinking which club to use.

+1. Good post and very true. I really think that a lot of beginners would improve faster if they took this advice.

3w, 5w, 3, 5, 7, 9 iron, SW, Putter.

Most of us could easily play a round with a set like that. Would that make us better golfers in the long run Personally I'd go with the even numbers (2w, 2i, 4i, 6i, 8i, 10i/PW, LW, putter) but the score would be similar.

Mizuno MP600 driver, Cleveland '09 Launcher 3-wood, Callaway FTiz 18 degree hybrid, Cleveland TA1 3-9, Scratch SS8620 47, 53, 58, Cleveland Classic 2 mid-mallet, Bridgestone B330S, Sun Mountain four5.

Even numbers here too.

Plus... another advantage is that your bag is a lot lighter to push or carry.

this is where sum idiot comes in and suggests 1irongolf

so 1irongolf could be the solution as 1 swing is needed for driver - LW
