hi all -
Does having an extra wrap of tape or thinner than usual grips promote the hands to release a tad quicker than thicker grips?? can a tape wrap be enough to effect this? My irons recently bought have grips worn down pretty good - the clubs feels a little thin in the hands and my baby draw has grown up into pre -teen hook. any thoughts?

Yes - A thinner grip will promote a quicker release.
Yes - Tape makes a huge difference. That's how you build the grips up to your specs. You can also stretch the grips to the desired diameters.

If you don't do grips yourself, which is incredibly fun and easy btw, I'd recommend going to a pro shop and having your hand measured. Explain to them your concern. You may need standard or even 1/64" over. I have smaller hands and like the 1/64" under.

This is a great time to do regrips since most places are offering pre-season deals.

compared to that chart, my grips are huge... but I like the grip bigger in the right hand. Most pro golfers I know have a standard grip with two wraps under the left hand and three under the right.

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee
