I wrote a bit about the technology in golf as it relates to this article as well as other sports.

Simple question for you all, then: can you think of another sport in which technology has had more of an effect than it's had in golf in the past 100 years?

Yet the average amateur's score remains the same.

On arguably more difficult courses. And I think that number can be slanted a bit by more and more casual golfers with high high handicaps.

Technology can affect the pro game while having little effect on the hacker game. They're not really good enough to take advantage of all technologies.

Auto racing.

Any kind of mechanical racing, for that matter. ;)
