Looking at getting new 56* and 60* wedges, is there anyone that has tried both brands of these wedges? I have heard outstanding reviews on both just looking for some more input.

I have new model Mizuno's and CG14 Cevelands both in 52* and 58* (60* in Mizuno) I am a big fan of Mizuno clubs, but the CG14s play circles around them. Unless you are looking to go pro, sitck with the older year models with the square grooves. They are much easier for someone like me a 10HI to control; plus they are much cheaper than the new models. Around $79 for a CG14 compared to $119 for a CG15.
Of the newer ones, should you choose to go that way, I would probably again favor the Cleveland wedge. Good luck in your choice.

I too played that Mizuno and a CG 14....really isn't a comparison. The CG14 was just a lot better. i would also get the 14 or even the CG12 over the 15. The CG12 almost mirrors the 15 but with 'better' grooves. I find the 14 a bit more forgiving. I went with the 14 for my gap as it was a bit more forgiving but i still could play a variety of shots and the 12 for the lob because it has a bit of a softer feel for around the green.

If your thinking about getting new wedges don't forget to look at/try Vokeys, I know that may sound like sponsor talk(by looking at my bag) but they don't give me the clubs. I have played Cleveland my last set were actually all CG12 and they are good but when comparing them to Vokeys is like comparing butter knives to scalpels.
Also look at scratch golf, they have different wedge grinds for different swings which can really help if you take a lot of full swings with your wedges.

Vokey's are great you should try them, they spin the perfect amount.

A man of my own heart! My Vokey's are due forreplacement this year and I got a Scratch 60* in the middle of last year that I love. I'm heading to the Michigan Golf Show this weekend and looking for Scratch's, but I'll get Vokey's if I can't find them. They both play very well and are the shape that I like. Most wedges that aren't Vokey's or Scratch look a little too rounded in the toe - making the face look like a tennis racket. I prefer a little more "point" to the toe.

The Mizunos are really nice, but last years spin milled vokeys are extremely good. If you are above a 5 or 6 I'd be looking at older spin milled vokeys.

I haven't tried the latter however I'm a huge fan of the mizuno wedges. Great feel and consistency. My wedge game improved quite a bit already just from switching to those wedges. It may be a confidence thing ... or the custom length .. either way, i love em. You can't go wrong with a Mizuno iron or wedge ... great product and i consider them one of the best vs the vokeys

If you're spending full retail on the wedges, go get fit for them at GG or something. I had my wedges a half inch longer than stock and it's made a big difference in my comfort level which equals confidence which equals much more consistent shots on the green

    • Day 444 - 2025-12-18 Light day of hotel room work. GEARS Summit v2.0 today. Good day.
    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
    • Day 128 12-18 Worked on rotation and getting to lead side. Still working on the flow feeling while doing that. Recorded swings.
